Flyer drops- how much do you pay?

I would say £150 for 4000 is reasonable. Give them areas to work within as you don't want all your leaflet delivered on council estate as council would do repairs and upgrades.

To check if leaflets have been delivered pick some ramdom streets and check the 10th house in on the left and right.

Royal Mail is about £600 (incl VAT) for 10k leaflets delivered and you don't have to have them all delivered at one go, or even pay for them all upfront. On that basis, your 4000 would be around £240.

As guaranteed as you'll get me thinks.

I had a look into the 10,000 leaflets by royal mail for £500. Seems pretty expensive but I will use it to test the idea. Has anyone actually used a good leafleting service before? and would anyone care to share their experience with it? Depending on whether your a new or existing business I think for a new business it's great idea to distribute them yourself - obviously the down side is it time doing this.

I used Royal Mail, then went off them and then returned to them.

If I were delivering my leaflets to inner city flats or terraces where you could do hundreds in an hour then fine but many of my prospective customers are in houses where you'd be lucky to reach 1 a minute and in some places, perhaps not more than 20 or 30 an hour.

Flat rate pricing from RM is the only way to do it. Even the free papers cannot get people to deliver for their pittance of 2p or whatever a paper.

Was it worth it going with Royal Mail? and was your campaign successful?

Short term analysis led me to believe it was successful but that customer retention was limited, the emphasis being more on instant purchase (services, not products) than a shift to using our company than that of a competitor or being a new purchaser trialling the service.

However, after stopping Royal Mail drops and mixing the advertising calendar a little more, the residual effect of the Royal Mail drops started to come through. Secondary advertising outside of Royal Mail was reinforced by advertising elsewhere. Furthermore, when we revisited Royal Mail, the increase in prospects rallied upwards not only on back of the current advert but also on the repeated message of multiple Royal Mail drops getting across.

Thus, Royal Mail drops became a firm part of the advertising calendar. Whatever the costs, it is difficult to beat at around 5/6p per leaflet (or importantly per booklet) directional down to second AB10 1, AB10 2, etc. level.

There is no solus option I admit but you can't get that for 5p per leaflet anywhere.

I'll give my 2 pennyworth. I recently gave our local Kleeneze distributor 1000 leaflets to post through with her catalogues and she seems reliable.....nothing
I also,at the same time organised a mailing list to 400 named businesses within a 20 mile radius. The firm charged me a smallish fee for the list and 47p to deliver each one, a brief introductory letter. A 3% response rate.Obviously more expensive but it depends on your market and at least they will be delivered hassle free.

It would be cheaper to pay a distribution company £150 than to pay 15 yr olds.

I'd think badly of a business that was using kids to deliver & I'm sure it's a grey area as far as employment law is concerned.

What if one of them gets injured for example? will they be covered by employers liability insurance?

Make sure you only go for solus distribution with GPS tracking and property counts.

Royal mail deliver with as many leaflets as they can get hold of & most people just throw them away.

Just my thoughts.
