I’m 55 this year and whilst still involved with one business, I still have a lot to give to the business community and interested in how others have transitioned from running own company interests to helping other businesses via advisory roles, NED positions or Angel Investment support?
What did you do to get started, or how did you move in this direction?
My skill sets and knowledge base is extensive. I have been in most situations having owned, sold, dissolved, liquidated, raised capital by practically every possible different way known and the associated benefits and pitfalls of same, experienced restructures, staffing issues, contractors, overseas workers, ACAS disputes, small claims issues, winding up orders in fact I have experienced most situations. I also have lots of experience in the tech and software sectors.
For the next five years I want to try and support others in some way. Where I think I can really add value is where a business wants to scale, or raise capital, restructure and I can support in an advisory role. A medium sized company already with some traction that wants to expand, or with financial issues not sure where to turn or seeks some guidance or just simply someone else to bounce ideas off in confidence.
I fully understand that business can be a lonely place at times, even when you have co-directors you don’t always have the answers – I would like to help fill that gap.
Finally, I did think about joining sites like virtual non execs but I’m not after a management accountant role or a board role with a health trust or similar, its SMEs ideally Staffordshire or west midlands region although with everything being remote online these days’ location is less of an issue. Has anyone had success with these sorts of sites?
Any thoughts valued and appreciated.
Thanks in advance
