I'm currently working on a website with a black background. On it, I need to include a logo (on a single page, not the main logo) which has been designed on a white background. I can't edit the logo, and part of it is black so I can't simply edit the background.

Other than sticking it in a white box, are there any industry tips or tricks which might help? Long shot I know, but perhaps I'm missing something!

Hi Mat,

Is it possible to see the logo you would like to use on a black background, I don't really understand how it can work if the logo is black too... :)

Do not hesitate to send it to me, i'll have a look at it.

Apologies to both of you. I seem to have posed my question quite badly!

What I have is an uneditable logo which needs to be displayed on a white background. However, the site I'm using has a white background.

The obvious solution is to put it inside a white box, but this looks terrible and I was wondering if anyone knew of a more elegant way of doing it. For example (although this also looks terrible) fading out the corners of the box.

With graphic design, I've found the simplest and most obvious of solutions can make a huge difference. I was just wondering if I'd missed something!

okkk... I still don't understand sorry ! ;)
First you said that your site had black background,
I'm currently working on a website with a black background.
and now it's white... Then the logo had white background
I need to include a logo which has been designed on a white background
and now it doesn't seem to be the case anymore :|

Could be good to have a screen shot of what it looks like now because I have no clue how I can help !! :D

Ok, for example, on a screenshot of my site (with a black background), you can see an example of a logo which requires a white background. In this case, it has simply been put into a white box:

Is that clearer? :)

Crystal clear :)

Do you want me to fix it for you so it works on black? I can do that for you if you know what that font is.

Let me know and I can do it today/tomorow for you.

Essentially the only way around it is to recreate the logo in vector format (www.trulyace.com/scalablegraphics.html) so that it doesn't have any sort of background (transparent), which is what I would do, and why I need to know what the font is/have access to the font so I can do that for you.

Best Wishes

Amanda

What I suggest to display your partners logos for example, could be something like that :
example.jpg

If you are using Photoshop to optimise your images, give a try to the different Modes that you can apply to a layer (at the top left in the Layer panel). Here for example I used the image of the Chamber of Commerce, which has a white background, but still manage to make it disappear on my buttons by applying the "Multiply" Mode on the layer that supported it.

Hope this make sense to you, but you could be surprised by the results these Modes offers. :)

That's awesome. Exactly what I was looking for!

I'll make sure I let you know if I have any projects which need more attention.
