Expert in court!

This is a general question that both myself and a lot of other companies need to ask.

If a so called expert, builds a website that is absolute rubbish, costing people thousands of pounds and ends up in court, how do you prove that the website is pure garbage and not worth a quarter of what you paid.

I know a few people who are taking a particular company to court and they really need an expert witness in SEO, to help with their case, so any ideas please?

Check the register of expert witnesses. Or ask your solicitor to find an expert witness in the field.

You answered your own question. What you need to do is find a real SEO expert and they can be a witness in court. I have heard of things like this before and it has taken several hours for the expert to explain to the court and for them to understand what he is on about

But it is trying to find someone who is willing to stand up in court. It does seem to be an unregulated business and a lot of people have fallen pray to this company.

I know a guy, he is called Marcus Miller. He has spoke about this sort of thing before and he knows his stuff when it comes to SEO. Just google Marcus Miller SEO and you will get all the proof you need

Knowing a guy is not good enough. You need someone whose qualifications and experience will convince a court that they know what they are talking about.

There is also a procedure to go through to get the expert agreed and his/her fee. I think its covered in the Court Procedure Rules.

Last time I asked the cost was going to be £125 per hour plus travel costs. The defendant settled out of court.

The Court will want to see the following:

1. Print out of the finished website

2. The plans/working out of the elements for the design

3.. The contract/proof of payment made

You will need to prove (as Claimant) that website does not fit your needs because of:

bad design, plans were not followed by the agent and proof of design errors and/or instructions were not carried out.

Communicate via email only, this way everything is documented, time and date stamped.

It depends how they cost you and the other companies money thats the question, do you just mean they cost you money because they pushed your site down the rankings, do you mean they cost money because people bought from the site?

I know SEO inside out and I build sites with very little research to generate leads for other people, the facts on my sites are often made up but no one seems to care if the hit #1 (or often #1, 2 and 3). Sometimes as we dont expect the sites to last for a long time we will make 20 of them and hijack most of the 1st page so if you want to drop me a PM I might be able to give you some advice from the "other side" of the coin.
