Emails going to spam

Hi all,

One of our email addresses is being directed to spam. I know this happened to us before when we were hacked and the account used to send spam. And I'm sure we contacted some kind of spam god (webmaster?) and they resolved it for us. Does anyone know who these people are and how I contact them?

CompleteWeb

Hi,

Check your domain name has SPF and DMARC DNS records. Also check your domain against blacklists to see if they server you are on has been blacklisted. MXtoolbox is a good resource.

All the best.
Chris

Did you check if your DNS had these records? If it's started happening since a server move, that sounds like the most probably cause. Or maybe your new server is also home to spam activity from another domain?

I think CompleteWeb is right here, that sounds like the possible cause.

Also 9/10 - I take it the -1 wasn't from being on lots of spam lists? ;).

    Try mail-tester.com
    @KM-Tiger , mail-tester.com is lame!

It gives you negative points if the test email is too short (it is a TEST email, dammit!), if you don't have a list unsubscribe link (it's a freaking test email, dammit!) etc.

I sent just a "full stop" in the body of my mail and it gave me a -1.9 for content that has previously been reported as spam (Pyzor_Check).

That makes it close to useless for me.

If someone is not on spam blacklists, and they think they've got the basics sorted (DKIM, SPF. DMARC etc), they could sign up with mxtoolbox for a month, pay the fee and see where they're still going wrong.

That we have to go to so much trouble with email is because of the bloody spammers many of whom are on this very forum and who call themselves "email marketers". They think there's nothing wrong with what they do and that it's harming nobody!

Yes my -1 was because only wrote “test” in the body and subject.
It’s clearly useless. My emails continue to go to spam on the first occasion of emailing someone even though I have basically a perfect score on mail-tester.

And I know my server isn’t home to any other spammy activity.

Not sure what else I can do. I don’t even send mass email marketing, but I often have to email people directly when their details are passed on to me.
