I'm keen for some up to date figures on how people view their emails!!

Do you receive text only or HTML emails ?

The results should also help anyone sending out an email newsletter.

I am afraid I am a luddite in this area so tend to use plain text. I used the internet before it was called that so you have to expect these things.... suddenly I feel old. STOP.

If it makes you feel any better Stuart I only send and receive text email (it attaches the html for me to check if I want)

I prefer it this way

Hi,

Not sure which email I have got, but I get pictures, text and files to open. I am on aol broadband if this helps. I didn't know which box to tick or if you wanted my input. (thought it may just be for internet company people).

Best Wishes

lol - yes your input is important Jayne - thanks!

It sounds like you recieve HTML emails if the pictures appear in your email when you open it?

I voted HTML but it depends on what mood I'm in!!
I have nothing against HTML emails unless I get bombarded with junk then I switch to plain text.....

I voted for html too. I often think text only can look messy, and be difficult to read. (Mainly because I'm too lazy to plough through all the text to get to the part that interests me :) )

With html I can usually tell at a glance which part of the email I want to read, if any.

I think it varries from industry to industry:

IT professionals prefer text only.
Executives open emails if they know the source(HTML or text).
Normal people enjoy HTML (and adwares!).

At least, it works this way here, in the UAE.
