I'm just putting my business online. What is the best paid online marketing strategy? I. e. Banners, SEO, keyword targeting or sponsorships?
Thanks for help

What is the best paid online marketing strategy

I think it's AdWords. Of course - SEO works long-term and as a result you'll get free SE traffic, but if we talk about immediate results - I think it's AdWords.

Banners? It depends on industry, website, its audience etc. Here you can't know anything unless you do a test campaign to see if any customers actually click on the banner etc.

However, setting up your own affiliate program is the most rewarding thing. You pay affiliates commissions, they drive traffic to your website - win win for both!

Hi Ludwip - there really are many factors to consider, and potential routes forward online depending what business you're in, what budget you have and what sort of conversion rates you have experienced/expect.

The best strategies/plans I have worked on have a combination of many elements - perhaps you could share a little more info?

I [obviously] have to agree with the last post that Adwords is a great/rapid/scalable way to get things moving quickly, but consider other engines too - we've seen awesome, credit crunch beating results recently through MSN, for clients over the last quarter.

From the experiences I've had with a number of clients in various industries:

SEO - A must do. Can take a while to see results and be very time consuming though.

PPC - Works for most industries. Used to be extremely cost effective but is getting less so due to everyone using it these days. Results can be instant though.

Banner Ads - Good for branding mainly. Harder to convert business than PPC ads.

Sponsorship - Same as banner ads for the most part.

it needs to be a combination of many. Banners are great for branding and cheap, adwords content network site targeting is also great. Adwords itself is great. SEO is an absolute must for any site that is looking to attract visitors.

One thing I would say though is don't make the mistake that most people make in bringing an SEO on board AFTER the site is built. Google themselves reccommend getting one onboard as early as possible.

This is what Google have to say.
"If you're thinking about hiring an SEO, the earlier the better. A great time to hire is when you're considering a site redesign, or planning to launch a new site. That way, you and your SEO can ensure that your site is designed to be search engine-friendly from the bottom up. However, a good SEO can also help improve an existing site"

By the way friend of mine is using Google Adwords at the moment it pays great he said but he also says that to target proper audience you need something more than that. Is this truth?
