Ebay affiliate program - is it worth signing up?

I was considering signing up to the ebay affiliate program. Has anyone experience of this? if so, is there any advice?

The advantage of the eBay program is that it is now pay per click. What you'll get depends on how well your visitors convert into sales. So if you are promoting a popular product and a lot of people buy it then it could be worthwhile?

Unlike a lot of affiliate programs where you sell stuff and the merchant tries various ways of not paying you eBay will pay you commensurate with the revenue you generate.

For everyday items and general promotion you certainly won't get rich but you could make modest amounts each month.

Just signed up, they ask you to verify your sites by uploading a text doc and I have just done that. It seems that there are certain types of site that are not accepted but not really much clarity on what is unacceptable, but my forums type site is on the list of acceptable site types so should be ok.

so am i right in thinking........

that we already have our ebay shop link on our website, so if we sign up for the affiliate program everytime a customer clicks the link to our own ebay shop from within our website that we will be paid a commision?

am i therefore missing out on a great opportunity to scrape back some of ebays fees? :D

From what I've heard, it's pretty difficult getting accepted. Dunno though, have never tried myself.
.

yes you are right, ebay are very strict as to who they approve to become an affiliate.

I know people who have very good websites, that generate a lot of traffic and still their applications were not approved.

good luck to the OP though, let us know how you get on. I would be very interested in the outcome along with any reasons why your application was declined (if this is the outcome).

best wishes

Haha! I'm pretty sure they will have some rules against that sort of thing somewhere in the small print!

When you sign up for the eBay affiliate program, one of the terms and conditions you must agree to during the registration process is that you will not use the affiliate program for sales through your own eBay store - with the idea being to get non-eBay users onto eBay.
