Mailing manager are very good, dot mailer too but cost a little bit more. They are both, however, 'do it yourself' online set ups so they give you access to the kit and you create your own template or design one and away you go. They do also create bespoke templates but that is more money of course. Great reporting and very easy to use, that's the main reason for using them.

What sort of email marketing service are you looking for? Are you looking to buy a list, or are you looking for someone to provide email marketing software, or are you looking for someone to send your newsletters on your behalf?

Cold leads need to be opt in and you will need to mail them at least five times before you get any results. The best way to get email addresses is through a contact form on the front page of your website, that way you are sure the recipients want to hear from you. If you want to go for a cold list, marketing file are good or market scan too but beware these lists are of people who have never heard of you so you have to build up a bit of presence with them first.

It is true that cold lists don't tend to work as well as established lists due to brand awareness.

Tri-Direct sell mailing lists - they might be worth a try. You're probably looking in the region of £200 per thousand.
