Hi All,

I just wanted to discuss about dropshipping. I’ve just started using. C J Dropshipping. I’ve placed my first order but the customer hasn’t received it yet as it’s a Chinese holiday until the 8th October, so they’re being slow. I just wondered has anyone used CJ Dropshipping? If so, has it been a good experience? Are there better dropshipping websites that you recommend? I just want to make sure they’ll be reliable. Thanks

If you are dropshipping from china expect lots of customer complaints and lots of returns. Your fledgling business is going to struggle until you find a supplier in the UK.

Thanks for the advice. Could you suggest any good suppliers in the UK? Thank you

Hi Jane,

To save you any pain when future Chinese holidays occur without you being prepared see this site for details covering holidays in 2023 and 2024. China Holidays 2023 and 2024

Knowing when holidays will take place gives you opportunities to build a relationship with your suppliers by sending them advance greetings wishing them a happy holiday. In some cases it can warrant sending a greeting card, but you can do that with an electronic copy of a card.

I’m looking at fashion, kids toys & clothes and also pet accessories. Not too sure where to start with UK suppliers that allow dropshipping.
And that right there is the problem. All of those are highly competitive what huge amounts spent on marketing. The chances of your dropshipping site achieving anything other than the odd order are almost nil.

Sorry to be so blunt but you need to find another way to make any money.

And perhaps be a little more specific covering clothing, toys etc is probably to wider range to be successful.

Clothes are difficult to dropship due to the size differences in China, as well as returns . . . .

Kids toys I wouldn't touch for dropshipping for obvious reasons. Do you have product liability insurance?

Pet accessories is safer, but can still have problems if you don't know from which factory they are being purchased from.

Take into account that any dropshipper in China will use multiple factories/suppliers/wholesalers/markets to buy products from, so quality control will be difficult to manage or control.

As @fisicx mentioned, find a UK supplier and one that offers next day delivery.

You need to consider working with a sourcing agent who can at least dedicate some time to your sourcing requirements and who are only awarded if you get what you really need. If you are selling various types of products, you should consider letting your sourcing agent consolidate different products you need into one shipment sending to you. Then you can dropshipping locally to your customer, resulting in far shorter lead time.
