Do you ping after you post?

Hi!

I was wondering if you ping to rocket up your indexing time every time you post on your blog.

Is it good for my website or is it bad?
 
WordPress automatically pings posts. Google will then index the post whenever. Sending a ping doesn’t speed up anything (there are millions of posts made every hour).

A year ago, I started using the Ping Optimizer plugin. Site traffic is the same as before.

Why even bother? Every time you add a plugin you affect performance.

Requesting indexing in Search Console definitely speeds the process up.

If I add a new page or add new content anywhere and want it ranking quickly I'll do a index request after adding/updating it.

In my WordPress website I only post new content to my blog section and nothing to do because it will be index later so no need to ping or use other tools just to speed up your indexing process.

And what difference did it make?

Wordpress alerts the search engines that you have a new post the second you publish. This means Google gets a zillion pings every day. Indexing of these posts is (normally) automatic, I've seen posts appear in the index with hours of publication but that just means the post is in the index. Google still needs to visit the site and determine the relevance and importance of the blog post to the rest of the site and search queries. Sending a ping won't initiate a visit, Google's robots visit when they want to not when you want the to.

Try linking to your new blog post from an already indexed page on your own website or another site to speed up indexing. Has worked for me....

If you're using Yoast for SEO, it'll automatically ping Google as soon as you post anything new. That said, I'm not sure anything in existence will actually speed up indexing -- that's up to the Google Gods.

I do as annap wrote, I link a new post to a relevant old post that has been indexed. I am not sure if it helps, but I also use Pinterest, and create few Pins for a post, and Pins generate traffic almost at once.

WordPress is automatically ping posts, but sometimes Google takes time in the indexing. Ping is the best option if you want to instant index your post.

If your site is authoritative, trustworthy, engaging, demonstrates expertise, is interesting and adds value then Google will be quite happy to index within minutes.

Getting that blog post ranked however is a totally different story.

@UKSBD yes put the blogs posts on Google Search Console and it helps index the posts faster, I learnt that from Neil Patel video very good.

Use incognito window when looking for your blog post after indexing on GSC so you get a true result

I get my posts indexed within an hour without using GSC. That's fast enough for me.

I do not manually ping when I post new content to my WordPress website. As WordPress has the automatic ping feature built-in, so you don’t need to manually ping every time you post new content.

Yea, I saw that. However, it is the Wordpress plugin directory. Just search for Instant Indexing and you'll find the plugin created by them. I've been testing this for the last few months, and so far I haven't had any issues. In fact, things have improved. See screenshot: https://www.screencast.com/t/ilJS07RZ1UfQ

Previously I was using SEOPress.

Now, obviously, I can't give all the credit just to this plugin, as I've been doing some other stuff as well, been more active in creating content, etc.. But hey, every little bit helps.

No, I don’t ping every time I post or update my blog.

I really believe that pinging is not anything you should concern yourself with. It’s just non-essential to your online presence. Rather you can focus on more productive work for your website.

I always ping after I advertise my services. This helps to reach out to more traffic and get more leads for my business.
