Hi all :) I have been struggling to get a good range of plus size ladieswear in the UK to sell in my B&M shop so I decided to have a go at importing a couple of lines from the USA. The clothes are very well priced and they have a really good selection, but for 48 tops (8x6 lines) it cost $98 postage and £70 import tax - the goods only cost me $247. Is there any cheaper way of importing - would this be the same if I imported from Asia? Also does the import/shipping price increase with the value/quantity you order?

I'm not being greedy, I just sell my clothing at cheap prices - I'm not a 'boutique' but need better variety. BTW, the clothes from the US were lovely.

Any advice appreciated :)

Why do you sell so cheap? If these clothes are pretty unique to this country then up the price a bit.

The worst situation i've found myself in within a business is setting prices too low. You can always bring a price down, but try pushing it up and your customers run to the hills and far far away!

I did add a few quid to the price, but compared to what I'm selling the UK stuff for they seem a bit pricey - although - they have actually been selling though so maybe I'm worrying about nothing, I guess I'm more shocked at the cost of importing.

I'm coming down to Blackpool in October, I'll be sure to come and see your shop ;)

Bump the price up a bit more and then see how they sell... if they're not selling "WOW: AMAZING OFFER! £5 OFF!"

People love to see numbers in adverts.
