Debt collection recommendation for one-off debt

We've got a one-off debt of 3.7k. We've tried being reasonable etc but this guy isn't going to pay very easily. Can anyone recommend someone who would help with this one? It's a guy in north Manchester who owes us a debt going back to 2019. We didn't have up to date contact details back then but we do have these now.

The small claims court? No we haven't taken any formal legal action ourselves. Would this be a better bet than leaving it all to someone else?
