Dates in wordpress urls

Do you remove dates from your wordpress permalinks? can it have any detrimental effect?
I usually remove them so old posts don't show as being so but are there any pros or cons doing so?

Blimey am I that out of touch? setting up a template for someone and the permalinks by default have the post date. www.xxxx.com/2016/07/07/mypointlesspost
I know I can remove them in permalink options so posts don't show as being old but wondered if any so effect or anything else?

Won't have any effect on anything. Just change the permalinks to 'Post name'. And in the media settings uncheck 'Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders'. And remove the 'admin' user.

Cool thank you! I've always done it without thought but wondered if better to have it if you are constantly updating content.

There is nothing more annoying than people that deliberately hide the post dates from blog posts with technical solutions. You look at what they are saying, work through it and find out it is deprecated or out of data solution.
