Maybe because Google doesn't like or doesn't know what to do with the site. What's the URL?

It's also possible the site has been indexed but is ranking way down off the homepage.

The difference will be between days and weeks. or you could submit the links manually one by one on search console.
Sorry but you are wrong. A well built site will be indexed within days (or even hours) of being launched. There is no need to manually submit anything.

But if you read the thread you will see the site has now been indexed. Problem solved.

Yes I will second this. The days of submitting Sitemaps (although Google still allows you to do so) are long gone. All Google needs to do it find a link to your site and then will start indexing automatically.

Google likes to crawl a site by following the internal links. It can then build a full map of the site and from there determine which pages are important (eg categories) and those that don't necessarily need to rank (eg privacy and legal pages).

Google makes it very clear on their sitemap guides that a well built site doesn't need a sitemap. Google does say most sites will benefit from a sitemap but neglects to say a poorly created sitemap can harm your ranking.

If your site has already been crawled subsequently submitting a sitemap is pointless.

If you have a fast changing ecommerce site you will be submitting sitemaps daily making the whole process pointless (Google doesn't crawl that often).

I have a website that has been crawled by Google but has not been indexed. Does anyone know why google in not indexing the pages? Thanks
Do you have a robots.txt file, use a sitemap, have laid a few links?
.top domains should it be one of those are very tough to index. Almost 3 month it took.
I believe the AI is training on the GSC, its the 2nd try, the 1st time Google de-indexed a zillion websites.
