Cost to develop this type of website

Hi, i have come across a website design and style i would like to have developed and just wanted to find out more details, for example, is there alot to developing the back end? What sort of budget would you be looking at? How long would it take etc.

You dont want that it will be a SEO nightmare unless you spend on ppc etc it will be buried on page 236 of google..

That's a pretty nice website and business idea, it's a shame it doesn't cover Surrey yet! Budget depends on who you get to do it but you're probably looking at at least £1,000 even if you went with a freelancer and time might be a few weeks.

Yes just a peek at the source code and is not flash but javascript. I stand corrected!

It's clearly javascript from looking at the source, I wouldn't have chosen to use that kind of layout, too many clicks to get where your going... lol it does look good though plus I like how fast the streaming video is, nothing worse than waiting for video to load...

Are you looking for just a "graphic" design style or a site with similar features?

Developing a site with a similar feature set is pretty straightforward, it's really just a glorified business directory. If it's a directory site you're looking for then you might need to budget between £1-2k for something decent.

hmm,

A) It is clearly not Flash at all! Anything that looks flash is actually JavaScript (jquery)

B) The only flash elements are the streaming video

C) Yes the front and backend are constructed by PHP.

Noone else need say its flash, its not... end of...

agreed - is javascript:

though it uses more than jQuery (e.g. overlib used for the popups)

test for flash:
source code - look for .swf - none
fire up site on ipad - works

Yep the Jquery is used for sliding those images on the home page.

The streaming videos are the most important part of website.

If you can get someone reliable with examples of similar work who can put this together for £600 then you should bite their hand off.

As a perspective, builders will often look around a Barrat's showhouse, pick up a floor plan, change it by moving an internal wall or two by a foot, and go build a house from it. That's extreme - but how much would one need to change a website before it becomes an "original" design?

a lot depends on uniqueness...

for example - our CMS - any one isolated bit of php in it is unlikely to be original or unique (lots of people use php terms / functions / etc.) but put them together in the way in which we have and it becomes unique...

etc.

in your home example - the uniqueness might be the precise measurements - but the originator of it would have to show that they came up with it... i.e. that they were the creator of the uniqueness...

so with a website - use of jQuery libraries is not unique - they are free to use, but the layout / the assembly of the code / etc. might be considered to be unique...

Whist the site look snice and the navigation is terrible, you could use something like Joomla and knock the bones up very quickly!
