We would like to know how many of you use as a vital business application a time content management system or CRM for looking after all your sales contacts , marketing promotions etc

Common brands are ACT! Golmine, Telemagic, SalesForce etc

As a fan of open source software I use SugarCRM - I've gotta say Im definately swinging more towards online applications as I can get to my data anywhere!

I too use SugarCRM, but I'm biased as I install/support/maintain SugarCRM systems as part of my business!

Lyndon - did you sort out SugarCRM yourself, or have you got someone helping you with it? I'd love to know.

Also for anyone using SugarCRM I've just put together a method of exporting the SugarCRM contacts database out to email applications via LDAP. This means that you can look up email addresses right from your email program.

If anyone wants a copy I'm going to be releasing it as open source (partly funded by our own ozzy!) shortly, PM me if you're interested.

Gary, I am shocked and dissapointed in you. I thought you were a serious developer but obviously not. Every good developer knows the best and most important part of developing any new application is thinking up a name - ideally an acronym. We've devleoped programs for clients called NITS (Nursery Information Transfer System) and SLOPS (Sticky Labels On PotS).

Back on topic though. I started using ACT! but I'm just not disciplined enough. To some degree we've developed our own system for Contact Managment specifically for managing KashFlow users.

I have played with Sugar CRM 3.5, the version that comes with Asterisk at Home. But I havent actually started using it yet...

Imported some names and was playing with click-t-dial feature.

will probably implement it soon'ish.

Use salesforce - was already in place when we aquired the business.

Dont know how I have managed without it before!!
