Hi all.. I have just signed up to this forum as it looks like a good place to bend a few ears & hopefully build a few bridges. I will be specifically interested in advice on opportunities and avoiding potential pitfalls.
Just a little of me then. As the title alludes to, I have just this week passed my final Cemap - which I am very happy about, of course. Additionally, I will register for the Equity Release add-on, and I'll explain why in a moment.
I have a strong background in Sales. I started out selling general insurance products for a large insurance company, progressing to medical insurance and it was then that I decided I would like to be a mortgage broker as the subject has more breadth & depth. I knew I wanted to sell stuff and that I was pretty good at it but insurance on its own was a bit boring really.
Anyway, I made a start towards a transition to the world of mortgages by taking a job selling Conveyancing at a fairly large Property Solicitors with UK coverage. It was here that I picked up the jargon and got a real - warts n' all - view of the market. Okay it was not an holistic view but it certainly helped underpin my interest and knowledge. Especially as I talked to many brokers along the way.
And here I am now with the full Cemap under my belt and looking for any advice that could benefit me. I should say briefly, that the company where I worked selling insurance was Saga which serves the over fifties which is why I am doing the Equity release unit. I am just building on foundations and who knows where it will take me.
I now live in Chippenham Wilts, and am currently a self-employed legal representative.
I am looking for genuine self-employed opportunities as a Mortgage advisor.
So thanks for your time and please share your views and I look forward to hearing them..
Michael
