Choosing a website platform: thinking about one thing at a time

We are trying to choose a platform for building a website. We are making educational apps for download on app stores and see a website as a place to:
1. Advertize and inform about our products.
2. Make sales. Not only a buy page but also A/B testing, interaction metrics, and anything else useful in marketing.
3. Show progress (for students, parents and teachers). This needs programming and will use .NET accessing an SQL server.

It seems that WordPress is standard, quite easy to get started with, and there are a lot of people with WordPress skills out there. The answer that we'd like to be true that we can make a WordPress site, that it is quite easy to do marketing tasks on WordPress, and we can do the programmatic part of the site completely separately and link to it, just passing it login data from WordPress.

Is that reasonable or do we need to consider everything as a whole? Could we start on wordpress and find it's not good for marketing (compared to unbounce, hubspot...)? Could we find it problematic to integrate with our .NET-rendered pages so do we need look for a .NET friendly framework like DNN?

If you want to use .NET then Wordpress isn't the right platform. You need a .NET CMS.

Before the built of the website its better to design first the content architecture for the site pages in which will centered your product or brand.

You can integrate HubSpot with WordPress very easily, so no worries there.

Thanks for the replies! We're using .NET because F# is a great language. We have to use javascript too because of all the web stuff out there. But we hope we don't have to add Perl to the mix. Anyway F# people don't think Wordpress will be a problem, and the .NET CMSes seem developer-focused and short on design and marketing features. So we'll go with Wordpress.

WordPress is a great choice. 25% global website market share and still growing strong. Lots of servers provide joint PHP (for WordPress) and .NET programming capabilties so there shouldn't be any problem with integration so long as you have a decent host and a programmer that's good with both languages/frameworks.
