Cheap phone line?

Hey Guys, Im opening a new shop and need a phone line - It already has a phone line installed with a number but obviously i need a new number and then connection or whatever?

Can anyone recommend?

I would be looking for a local number if possible

So with voiphone you have to pay for a virgin media line then pay the other costs on top?

VM gives you a landline, broadband etc.

If you wish to use Voip then you will need an internet connection so in essence you are correct.

If you go for VM you do not need Voip specifically as you will have a local landline number.

You could just get Virgin broadband then use us for the telephony over it. A phone number from us is £2 per month.

Please refer to my rant, not once have you queried the potential usage on this line so how do you know whether your services will benefit?

Assuming that you're asking the question of me, A Virgin line with £2 telephone is probably the cheapest way he can get a business phone and an internet service.

But if he has more complicated needs, he can ring the number I suggested and someone can go through it with him. He won't get sold something that is right for him because we don't do that - we don't employ sales people, just support people.

If all he needs is a bog standard BT line, that's what he'll be recommended to get.

Assuming you meant isn't - I'm with voipfone, brilliant service, no hard sell either, just plain & simple conversation.

My point is, how can you say that this is the best option? Do virgin Media supply free internet?

It somebody requiring just an inbound line, has no need for internet within the building or just want a simple low usage broadband. Then they are paying for high speed usage for no reason. Therefore, although it is £2 for a licence per month, they are spending more than a standard £9.99 BT line.

So I feel that may point carries a significant weight, that you are not asking the right questions.....

Just to check, the line that is already there is that one you need to keep and need an additional line? Or are you simply wanting a single phone line, ideally using the same line?

Am I right in assuming that the line you currently have in is from the previous people in the shop? If this is the case it is usually possible to use this depending on if it is in a stopped state.

I'm not saying that it is - although it is very likely to be - I'm saying call us and talk to someone and he'll get proper advice. Old fashioned I know.

But obviously, if he doesn't need broadband for whatever reason, he's not going to get sold it by us and he's going to get told that a bog standard telephone line is his best answer.

I think your point carries weight, but you're making a bit too much of it because you've maybe assumed that people will be sold VoIP regardless of what they need based on a couple of random posts on a forum. That maybe the way some people work but it isn't the Voipfone way.

Hey, The line already in - I just want a single line with a new number.

Yes its from the previous people - how do i find out if it is in a stopped state?

How do I find out whether its ADSL?
And how do I find out whether I need a new connection or just transfer?

The OP asked for rec's and that is what they got.

If they wish to discuss the finer details, CJD has supplied a contact number and when they call, no doubt they will enquire what is the best service for them...

Yes I know and normally I wouldn't have said anything but it was like the third example today I had seen where people are saying that it was the best option for an end user, I asked the question and it was for incoming calls. Therefore, a VoIP licence is not the answer.

The main one was from someone called chain something or other, can't remember exactly. Its just becoming more and more evident that people have a good experience or sell it thinking it is the only option available and not have the end users best interest in mind.

HI I might be able to hep do you need internet for credit card payments as well. Reinstating the line is as cheap as chips, standard line rental for standard line is aslo cheap as chips. Please pm me and I can give you more details.
