Cheap delivery around UK

Royal Mail want £8 for a 1.2 kg parcel 30 cm x 30 cm x 20 cm can anybody recommend anywhere cheaper?

Yes. Speak to any of the well known parcel carriers and get a contract rate from them, which will depend on your traffic volume and customer type.

There are a rich array of parcel carriers available, and many will be cheaper than the Post Office. This is important, of course, if you have volumes to send, but never forget to consider service levels too. They vary a lot from carrier to carrier. We moved, some time ago, to a combination of FEDEX and DPD, since which we have reduced the number of delivery related snags noticeably. Both are reasonable without being the cheapest, although their prices may vary with projected volumes.

Some carriers really do just pop the bag next door and disown the problem. And you would be surprised how many next doors don't have the parcel. Apparently.

If it's just a one off or occasional package, try Parcel2Go or one of the other parcel brokers. They will place it with the one they are getting the best rates with

I currently use post office, however a company called HERMES has caught my eye. Their parcels are all tracked and signed for, they come to your house and pick up your parcels. Contact them to find out more on volumes. You can even get a custom quote on their site. Definitely recommend looking into

I've been looking at myhermes aswell wibzo. They are cheap but heard a few people on here say terrible service, yet others say great.

Is this another example of businesses expecting to get something for nothing from the transport industry. It costs alot of money to move things. If you want it done you should pay a fair price. If not you could always drive it there in your car

Just log onto interparcel, they collect and are far cheaper than Royal Mail

Jeremy I don't expect to get things for free in the slightest. I'm thinking what's best for my business and if I can pay cheaper to send parcels why wouldn't I take the opportunity up? If you want to pay over the odds feel free but if you send 100 parcels a month it's a significant saving.

The myhermes service doesn't include a signature by default although this is available for about £1 / box.

interparcel, p4d, parcels2go etc etc all have decent rates with numerous couriers companies because they buy the volume so you don't have to personally i don't send a lot of stuff out but we use interparcel and select a service based on what we are sending.... one thing to what "interparcel economy and interparcel premium are both picked up by UPS...there is £5 difference between them..."premium" is a guaranteed next day, economy is 2 day...now for the rub UPS do not offer a guaranteed next day or a 2 day service...to quote the driver "we aim to deliver all parcels the next day unless something goes badly wrong so i am not sure how they can guarantee it !" so do not pay the extra £5
