CDN for SEO

A CDN should speed-up delivery of static resources at least. Other enhancements which are available via cloudflare free and pro really ought to be the least you are doing these days.

Bear in mind that in most cases any requests still need to hit your origin server and this is where optimisation ought to begin.

Is there a measurable improvement in page load times? Or do you just use the CDN for convenience?

My main money site has 2 images on the homepage each under 100kB. Everything else is just standard wordpress files. Using a CDN probably won't achieve much for me.

@Craig Bird - there are a whole bunch of things you could do to improve the site before investing in a CDN. For starters, stop using all those Google resources - even Google suggests it's not a good idea on their site audit.

Just a standard wordpress site will call up at least a couple of javascript files so there is a minor saving to made there. Will it be visually noticeable, no.

There are other benefits, of course. For instance, the pro version includes a great WAF with pre-configured profiles for wordpress, and on-the-fly jpg to webp image optimisation.

Incremental performance improvements are minor but they add up to significant savings overall though. The more complex the site, the bigger the boost you're going to experience.

Of course, much of this could be done at server level but, personally, I prefer not to go down that route since it can become a bit of a rabbit hole and I soon veer away from my comfort zone.

check your site speed with several "free site speed checkers". If you get low-performance results then first check your site image size. If those are 100KB+ then try to reduce the size as well as change the format to JPG & compress using the free image compress tool.

Most of the time compressing images are all you need to speed up your website. If you still face problems then use "Cache plugin" for the WordPress site.

If you still facing a problem then you may check CDN.

Yes, using a CDN for SEO is generally beneficial. Faster sites decrease bounce rates, which helps in improving SEO scores. Similarly, if a site is available 24 hrs, it would give you an edge over your competitor. As we know, search engines give more importance to mobile-friendly pages. If your website helps mobile-friendly content (CDN’s FEO does this), then your Search Engine Rankings will achieve.
