I am wondering if I can claim CA against a laptop that I purchased. I use it for reading documents that are emailed to me and researching articles and doing my business invoices on I'm guessing its used about 40% for business?
Thanks,
A small business would usually be able to get 100% tax relief on a laptop in the year of purchase through the annual investment allowance. However, if you're a sole trader and you only partly use the laptop for business purposes, you'll only be able to claim tax relief on the business use proportion (i.e. 40% in your example). Helpsheet 252 (at the bottom of page five) runs through an example of this.
