Can Mancini manage?

Personally, I have a lot of admiration for Roberto Martinez and believe him to be one of the best managers in the league. His team, Wigan, play attractive football with few big names on the team. I've been secretly rooting for them all season and felt bad for them when the refs stole what should have been a victory at Chelsea. If Harry Redknapp does become the England manager, my vote for his replacement at Tottenham is Martinez.
After his team beat both ManU and Arsenal, my vote is for Martinez to be England manager! He's a class act.

We will have to wait and see, but I wouldn't be even slightly surprised if Mourinho went to City.

As for City not beating Man Utd no matter what money is thrown at it, you only have to look at what Mourinho did at Chelsea. He turned them into champions in his first season and got the better of Ferguson. Now he is about to end Barcelona's dominance in only his second season at Madrid. It's entirely likely that he could beat United to the title in his first season if he went to City.
i think he may give city a miss now that city and madrid are going to win it this year.
i cant see mancini leaving now.
i think mourinho needs a trip to germany.hes not been there.actually it wouldnt surprise me if he goes to russia or the Ukraine.plenty of dosh over there

whilst i want city to win the league, im finding myself questioning that now as im not liking there thought of its won now with a game to go. QPR need a point at least to be sure of staying up.mark huges is ex man u and city dumped him when he was manager.he would love it if he put one over city.this is not over just yet.

I think he has learned how to lead now as they are not as reliant on individuals but more the team, however as a Liverpool supporter I am struggling to find many positives from this season....

positive thinking.
a trophy
its a new strike force thats getting better and better.
we have battered teams this year at times without scoring.i see that changing next season.carroll is getting better henderson will come good suarez is also getting better. think we need another wide man with pace. plenty of chances were made conversion rate will be better next season im sure of it.

A valuable point was made when City's last game was on TV. So many 'professional' footballers get the strop because he takes them off (a lot of the time for De Jong), even when they're losing. Why bring on a DM for an attacking player? Because Yaya Toure pushes up just behind the striker and either gets goals like he did against Newcastle, or he creates them.

What I don't agree with is the fact he went out and bought tons of players willy nilly, got rid of a load of players and expects it to fall together perfectly. He has basically bought a player from here, bought another from there and all of a sudden they're expected to win trophies.

I don't agree with what City have done, there should have been a fairplay transfer rule years ago to stop teams getting bought out and doing this.

I don't support anyone either before I get accused to being a United fan! ;)

City still don't look like a team to me. They look like a collection of world class footballers in an exhibition match.

I guess it's a bit like Chelsea in many respects although the core of their players had been there a few years before they started winning trophies.

Are you serious?

This is the worst Liverpool team I have ever seen. All but one of Dalglish's very expensive signings have been awful. Carroll's insane pricetag aside, Downing and Henderson aren't worth half of what Dalglish paid for them and as for Charlie Adam... words fail me. And then you have people like Spearing in your team. Dear oh dear.

You'll be needing a bit more than a quick wide player in the summer.

Wallcott..Wallcott..Wallcott..oh no he's injured.

Bentley..Bentley..Bentley..does anyone know where he plays any more?

Just think, 35m for Carrol..how much is Heskey worth? or someone like Diego Forlan? WOW billions!

to compare carrol with heskey shows your lack of football knowledge. i dont think anyone with any knowledge of football and the technical side of things would compare the two as remotely equals.carrol at this time is a far better player and will get better.heskey is not the player he was.
bentley ha i dont think so.but if man utd want to get rid of nani .we will have him

this isnt the worst team.as ive said they have battered teams and just failed with the woodwork and many fluffed chances. we have played chelsea of the pitch, man city, man utd everton, even when arsenal beat us everyone knows we should never have lost.we didnt lose because we are bad as a team.we missed chances.another year they dont hit the post and they go in then all of a sudden we are great. hmmmm

:D Of course.

I best not speak of any football matters at all. After 15 years watching the game I shall never ever ever speak badly of Andy Carrol ever again because I clearly lack any knowledge of football. I've never been to a match, i must remember that, i'll repeat it in my head to erase the memories of Old Trafford and The Riverside matches that i've been to..no wait..i've never been d'oh.

It's sinking in

Andy Carrol is the worlds greatest footballer.Andy Carrol is the worlds greatest footballer.Andy Carrol is the worlds greatest footballer.

He's better than Messi!!! or even Owen when he was 23!!!

Lets compare them as Heskey is apparently not in the same class as Carrol:

Messi, 24, Goals 250 Appearances 327
Carrol, 23, Goals 45 Appearances 158
Owen, when 23, Goals 139 Appearances 259

Andy Carrol is much more like Emile Heskey, he scored 46 goals goals in 197 games for Leicester before he was 25.

i doubt carrol is the greatest footballer in the world just as im sure you doubt it also.
carrol is not messi class nor is he the hesky of today class.i have no idea why someone who has watched much football would compare carrol to either of those players.
if you want to compare carrol to heskey when heskey was young then i see no reason why you shouldnt ,then yeah thats fine.heskey played well and also played well for england.hes done well in his career and im sure if carrol does as much or better, then im sure he would consider his time as a player a good job done

now if i were to compare fans to footballers, i would think you are a heskey of today and im surely the messi of now. its obvious for all to see

You keep telling yourself that if it makes you happy.

Played Chelsea off the pitch? I hope you're not referring to the match the other night when you played Chelsea reserves who played like a pub team that couldn't be bothered and basically gifted you three goals. As truly dreadful as Chelsea were they still managed to hit the woodwork twice as well.

I remember watching the Fulham game the other week and when I saw the team line ups, I actually thought to myself that the Fulham side was better on paper than yours... because it was! That just about says it all really.

Sure, you've missed some chances, but that's because you've got Andy Carroll playing up front! :D He wasn't even amongst the top goalscorers when Newcastle were in the championship for heaven's sake.

This is potentially your worst league season for 50 years, you are more than 30 points behind the teams at the top of the table and several lesser teams have won or got a point at Anfield for the first time in decades or for the first time ever.

Quite honestly, I dread to think who Dalglish is going to waste a small fortune on this summer if he keeps his job that is. You are absolutely lightyears behind the likes of Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal.

chelsea reserves ?
£50 million pound striker that also has played many games this season.
drogba had a spell on the bench so did that class him as a reserve?
i didnt see many reserves in there side the other day.there were noticeable absences in the liverpool side also but i wouldnt call the players that did play reserves.
the last 15 years many teams have taken a point of us at our place or the odd shock win.its been an issue for a few years as we do well against the "bigger" sides.
losing 2 or 3 games more than 3rd place arsenal is hardly lightyears away.
we have drawn games we dominated and thats been our problem.

Yes, Chelsea reserves.

No Lampard, Cole, Cech, Mata, Drogba and plenty of others besides. They gave you three goals. One own goal, Terry slipped and let Henderson through for another and then the RESERVE keeper screwed up and left Shelvey an open goal for yet another. They rested their best players with one eye on the Champions League final and you know it. They were absolutely awful on the night.

Be realistic, your squad is utter tripe and barely any of those players are worthy of a Liverpool shirt. It says it all when a past it and injury prone Gerrard is still the best player in your squad by a country mile. Spearing, Shelvey, Henderson, Downing, Carroll, Adam, Bellamy and plenty of others are nowhere near good enough to be in a Liverpool team or any team looking for a top four finish.

so all those players are so bad yet they beat chelsea not only the other day we beat them on there own turf.we drew against city and man u but beat them both in the cups.
so what your saying is without those 5 players playing for chelsea and with gerrard and lukas not playing for us.our players our good enough to beat them .so really it shows with your logic how bad chelsea are as a group of players.even though they have won the fa cup beat barcelona and could win the champions league and just missed out on 4th.
hmmm
football does not work that way.
on another day the chelsea team that played against us the other day may have beaten us.thats how football works.
as ive said arsenal chelsea and newcastle have lost 3 potentially 2 games less than us,with spurs 4 potentially 3. city and man u are better .so i dont see a big difference between liverpool spurs chelsea arsenal and newcastle.

You've scraped a couple of decent results here and there throughout a whole season. Using your logic, Wigan are a magnificent table topping side because they have beaten Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool etc in the past few weeks. The fact is, they are a poor side who have done just enough when it mattered to get out of trouble.

It's about what you do over a whole season. You'll find that pretty much every single team in the premier league can point to a few good results here and there. Blackburn won at Old Trafford this season, but they've just been relegated.

You've had your worst league season in decades and are finishing in mid table barely ahead of the likes of Fulham and West Brom who have both beaten you.

If you think this Liverpool squad is good enough to be top four you are deluded.

my logic is that liverpool are not light years away from the teams that you mentioned and i have proved this to be the case.
2 finals and one trophy regardless of what some think of it.
the europa league trophy is massive to many countries in europe and so it should be just as the league cup here is a big trophy as there are so few trophies to win. any player wants finals.the season as a whole in the league was not great in terms of results but the season as a whole including cups and such show it has not been our worst season in the period you speak of.
city have lost to some low teams this season so has man u.but it happens its a hard league

Yeah however dalglish throwing away any credibility he had by out an out lying on National TV over the Suarez handshake incident was priceless.

Even his boss told him to go out and apologise for his behaviour like a naughty schoolboy.
petty behaviour from all parties from start to finish, but all fun to watch and gossip about .

You really don't get it do you?

You don't assess how good a team is by 3 or 4 results out of a whole season. Liverpool are like every other team in the league in so much as they have had a small handful of decent results. So have Wigan, West Brom, Norwich, Sunderland, Fulham, Swansea etc etc etc. Almost every team in the premier league will have either beaten or taken a point from better teams they weren't expected to beat.

As I said, Blackburn beat Man Utd at Old Trafford. According to your logic that apparently makes them on a par with Man Utd or not too far behind them.

Sure, Liverpool have had 4 or 5 decent results this season, but they've had about 20 terrible ones as well and that's why they are languishing in mid table obscurity. You can't put a run together because your manager and squad aren't up to the job. Liverpool have had 6 home wins in the league all season... 6!!! This is Anfield and Liverpool we are talking about here and by Liverpool's standards that is absolutely laughable.

Seriously, how many Liverpool players do you think would get into the teams of Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal or Spurs? One or two at best probably.

Getting to the FA cup final is an achievement, but winning the Carling Cup counts for pretty much nothing. It shows how far Liverpool have nosedived when a Liverpool fan is excited about winning a Mickey Mouse trophy that the big clubs use an opportunity to play their reserve team and kids.

i dont think you get it
when liverpool won lots of cups we still got excited about the league cup.it has never been a mickey mouse cup.if certain teams want to undermine that cup because they feel its beneath them thats there choice and there players loss.there are only ever 3cups to win unless your in europe. we won 1 got to the final of another got into europe and will finish 7th or 8th.you have said its our worse season in decades when it certainly isnt.
a team with an average age of 24 at times it has been younger than that.in kennys first FULL season.its not the worst return in the world of football.we may not be in the champions league or won the premiership but we are doing a lot better than most teams.only us and man u have won the champions league . the only cups we havent won ina while is the prem and not many have won that one and euro league.so i dont see what your harping on about
suarez isnt a racist .if he was he would never play football again.i also doubt that any other black player would ever have anything to do with him if he truly was a racist.

You think the Carling Cup isn't a Mickey Mouse cup? Seriously?

Kenny Dalglish spent £120 million in one summer and look what you've got to show for it. This IS your worst league season for 50 years. You're a Liverpool fan who doesn't even know his own club's history!

Look at your team. You're supposed to be competing for a top four spot and you have the likes of Charlie Adam, Jay Spearing, Shelvey, Carroll, Downing and Bellamy in your side for heaven's sake. If my team's manager spent £35 million on Andy Carroll I'd be absolutely furious! If Downing was any good one of the big boys would have snapped him up years ago and I can't believe that Dalglish thinks Charlie Adam is good enough to play for a club like Liverpool. He's lost the plot.

Dalglish is starting to sound like Steve Kean with his excuses. All this "We've been unlucky" etc. He seems to be confusing "unlucky" with "cr@p."

Still, if you're happy with Dalglish doing worse in his first full season than pretty much any other Liverpool manager in recent years despite spending a fortune, I wish you all the luck in the world because you're going to need it.

you said it was our worst season.not that it was our worst league position.
ask newcastle if they prefer to finish 5th or 7th or 8th with a trophy and another final.ask any team outside top 4.newcastle have finished above us and have less than what we have for the season.
would i rather champions league 4th place or 3rd depending on next week ,instead of euro league fa cup final and the league cup win.hmmm tough to answer.

and no i seriously dont think the league cup is mickey.im old skool and i used to play alot.im telling you players want to win finals including the league cup.
its never been a mickey cup .just because wenger and fergie choose to play a weak team does not mean its a mick cup.they dont control what is important for all other clubs or fans

Are you seriously telling me that Dalglish has taken your club forward?

£120 million and all you have to show for it is the Carling Cup, a load of very average yet obscenely expensive players and your worst league position in half a century.

You're Liverpool. One of the biggest clubs in europe with an exceptional history and you haven't even come close to winning the league for more than 20 years and now you are happy with a squad like you have at the moment? Really?

no .what i said was .we are not light years away from the other teams ,nor has this been our worst season in decades as you have said.
as you say we are liverpool but we are liverpool that have not won the prem .so
when you havent won the prem in a long time then one has to take what ever comes next.next means the fa cup,the league cup,any european cup that we maybe in also.but every team tries to win the prem regardless.
the team have not gone backwards as we have a trophy and european football,we did well against our rivals as in the top 6.did the treble over everton .its not champions league but maybe we can improve next season.
the season has been at times frustrating, but on the whole there have been many more ups than downs.in life and biz niz that is what matters.it matters in football also as a fan.
i would rather lose 1-0 to west brom than to lose 1-0 to everton

as ive said the team have done well against big clubs on many occasions so its not beynd them to take it that step further and kill off the "smaller" teams when we dominate. im sure new blood will come in.shelvey is 19 henderson 21 carrol 23 kelly 21 lucas 24 suarez 24 theres lots of quality that will only get better

As has been shown today. Yes he can. I'm not a City fan but heck he did it.

A shame though that he and his players in the Premier league covered their Manchester City shirts with flags from their own countries though.

You wouldn't have seen this appalling behaviour if Man U had won.
