Buying consumables from Alibaba/China

Hello,

Could anyone help with the process of purchasing bulk items from Alibaba. We go through a lot of branded plastic carrier bags and gift boxes so I am trying to get a better price per item by buying in bulk directly from manufacturers rather than through wholesalers here in the UK.

So far as I understand the price per unit listed on Alibaba, and when you ask for a quote, is not inclusive of delivery to the end destination? Are there some vendors that have it included in the price? One Vendor also provided me with the price which is inclusive of delivery to the port in the UK but the delivery to our shops was not included and they said has to be arranged by myself. I would really like something where they would provided me with total cost of delivery to the end address.

Similarly I am not familiar on how to deal with duty tax and the forms involved. Is it at all possible to buy with the seller taking all of this responsibility upon themselves (like buying on eBay), again, with the final price inclusive of everything.

If that is not possible I would be grateful if some of you who do buy from Alibaba/China can explain how the whole process works, so that I get the goods here safe and sound.

My experience is simply to ask them to do what you want. They will happily send them via china post or FedEx etc. if you are willing to pay. If it comes on a container, you have the forwarding problem, and they can't really progress that delivery past the port, but they may have the ability to put your goods with a forwarder. Just ask them for a price to your door.

Thanks for the response. I sent a few quotation requests this morning asking for the price to the door. I am not entirely sure how to phrase it correctly so that they understand. I said that I want the price for the delivery to its final destination with duty paperwork handled by the vendor.

It would be good to find out if anyone on this forum already deals with a trusted supplier for plastic carrier bags as this is the biggest single item I want to source out from far east for better prices.
