BT Infinity Buisness Broadband Speed

We had BT Infinity Business Broadband installed four weeks ago and personally I cannot notice much different from their standard broadband.

I have just used an online speedtest and got the following results for a wired connection at 05.00hrs:

Ping 21ms
Download Speed 1.71 mbps
Upload Speed 1.44 mbps

Can any broadband savvy members give me their opinion on this result and if I should be expecting or achieving a faster speed with BT Infinity Business Broadband?

I cannot answer your question sorry! But our speed is a lot slower than yours and have had the same experience as you. I think it is just a con to get you to sign another 12 month contract and get a quote 'faster speed'un quote!

You should be getting much faster results than that, what did BT quote you when you signed up for the service ?

Hi,

I have BT Infinity (not from BT) I use Plusnet who are owned via BT.
My download spped is 72mbps and upload 17mbps.

I would say you have a problem but could you please carry out a speed test on a wired connection not wireless?

I get 13mb on wireless on BT infinity, and nearly 40 on wired so something definitely wrong, our ping is only 33ms so yours is 4 times as much.

I cannot locate what I was quoted now but after reading these posts, something is obviously wrong somewhere

How far are you from the exchange?

If you are on BT Infionity are you on the Fibre to the Cabinet (your street cabinet) or your Premises (FTTP) ?

If you do a test using a wired connection what speed do you get then ?

You need to raise a fault with BTR as you should be getting far better speeds if you are so close to the exchange, also by switching to Fibre you remove the major issue re BB speed, e.g. the distance from your network port to your property will have probably reduced to a few 100m of copper/aluminium cable.

You most definitely need to raise a fault call !

Before you raise the fault I would suggest that you turn the power off to your BT infinty box and router leave it 15 mins and power back up. Then run the test again and let us know what happens.

If you run a trace route you can often see if the latency is within your network or theirs. often worth a check before you raise a fault.
