Bounce Rate / Traffic since Tuesday

Has anybody else seen their bounce rates go up since the start of this week? I know there were changes last Friday but is stuff still happening?

No, our own websites bounce rate is down a little; bout 25%; and visitors up a bit, most of our clients sites are about the same as they always are.

Have you seen a sudden massive change?

It could be relates to a Google algorithm change.

Are you monitoring your rankings? Amy major changes there? What about visitor numbers or new enterances?

I've not seen any significant changes in the sites I monitor.

Too many contributing factors are unavailable to simply get an answer that would give you a comparison to work with.

Reaction to sudden changes can often be a bad thing to do - Day watching should only be used to monitor sales - once you see a pattern emerging then it is time to react.

This is true, the OP needs to explain the situation in more detail and as you say not be too reactive.

If there is a problem that has been progressing then it would be useful for them to explain it and also reveal what analytics solutions they are using and what those solutions say.

I think, if they aren't using any; real time analytics and heatmapping can under the right circumstances, help as that can reveal patterns early; where a problem could start to emerge or show if people aren't engaging with the site as you may want them too.

Hi Nick,

Can I suggest looking at Google Analytics, either by keyword (under traffic sources) or by page (under the content section) and arrange the table by bounce rate (so the highest bounce is at the top. If you then look through this, see if there is any common factor (i.e. a common page or keyword that bounces regularly).

Very occasionally this can help highlight a particular reason for what you are seeing.

I don't see any significant changes on our website's bounce rate as well.. Try to check on your referral sites and see what URL is giving you these visitors.

As simon said - The bounce rate could be due to your website appearing for something unrelated to your website.

I have had no change at all its totally normal.
