Admiral Collections

Hi

Was just wondering what your thoughts were on this. As you know I am having a new website designed and it has a fantastic blog feature, if I might say so myself!


If you visited a Debt Collection blog what would you like to see? General tips? A personal tone? Case studies I have dealt with. (Some are amusing) Our general plans and stuff? I've been told I come across as bossy on here and I really wouldnt want to sound that way on my company blog. I am guilty of saying exactly what I think, but thats because I am not a false person. Obviously you all have a feel for my personality now, so your comments would be greatly appreciated.

I think a sort of "Diary of a Woman Debt-Collector" would be a big hit, specially if it were real (which it is), sometimes humorous and enlightening.

You might just be onto something there.

Yeah,

I'd say something which shows the human side of your business... I only know debt collectors from various fly-on-the-wall TV programmes - and when you see the human side of them in those you have more empathy for their jobs...

Good point Mark. I am desperately trying to get away from the perception that debt collection is all about threatening people and ex bouncers in bomber jackets going round and leathering people. The fact is, I genuinely feel for my clients plight. They can't get paid, can't pay suppliers, their businesses are at risk.

The "Diary of a debt collector" angle gets my vote. Especially if it can include:

a) some humour
b) examples (subtle ones) of how good you are at your job

Remember the "Diary of an Estate Agent" thing the Evening Standard used (still do?) to run. Something along those lines is what I'm thinking of.

Hi Nic, I think the diary idea is a great one. I found one of the Evening Standard's articles by putting "diary of an estate agent" into Google.

Firstly, why am I not authorised to view your site? (403 forbidden message)

Now, to the subject. Do you really think professional people interested in securing a professional debt collector are going to be impressed in this 'teenage' blog stuff? I certainly wouldn't even click the link - and I'm a totally up with it kinda guy :wink: . Certainly using the 'diary' theme, or even a 'Collection History' page may be more apt.

The website is being developed.

Also, I think you have a different interpretation of the word "blog" meaning something personal about themselves, which it can relate to, but it can be used for printing articles about events, news on other websites, stories, information, tips and so on. Many of the top marketing experts now use blogs on their websites, and so do many SEO firms.

Where was it suggested that it was going to be like a teenagers diary? Please do not insult my intelligence. I have also a large collection of professional case studies which I think I did outline above. I am really disappointed at your response. Obviously you read me totally wrong.

Sounds like a great idea Nic! There's certainly potential. I guess you need to consider the impact of the blog on your business. I think something that is professional but also contains some light-hearted humour will go down well. It's just a matter of getting the balance right.

Nic - I was pondering this while eating my cucumber sandwiches...

Blogs tend to be personality based - I imagine your site will be corporate looking - I would say it's a bit of a mixed message unless you aim for either a corporate looking blog or a personality based site.
