So Bing has introduced secure search. This means you will start seeing even less keyword data in your analytic's.

It could be even worse. Because Bing links directly to your site from results if you do not use https then you will get zero referrer data and the traffic will be recorded as direct.

A good reason to buy an SSL cert and go 100% https ;)

Interested if you think Bing is insignificant anyway or if it will affect you?

Bing is pretty pointless in the UK search market anyway, especially when Google own over 95% of it - I literally know 0 people who use bing search in the UK.

Yahoo is what all the older folks use but Bing? I know of no such person.

Google search engine is usually used worldwide, and most of the online business in every country or location is optimizing for their location to target the right visitors and convert leads for sales.

Not really news is it. It's been in the pipeline for a while and as suggested the number of people using Bing is miniscule anyway.

All search engines are sharing less data for website searches with webmasters. The reason is clear that they don't want to allow people to play with their searches. But it has become a more interesting game now. :)

It's hardly pointless is it, millions of people in the UK use Bing as a primary search engine still, especially all Internet Explorer users.

Granted, the number may be decreasing but plenty of websites still get traffic from non-Google search.

60 Million people in the UK and far from ALL IE users -

You set your homepage and everyone I know has Google set as it. Especially when Google put this banner for 90% of IE users up -

Also, all of the school/college/university computers I've ever been on have Google as their default search engine.
Anyway, the market share above proves the point.
54 Million internet users in the UK and even if you did the maths around that, Bing would cater to maybe a few million at the most + Bing/Yahoo are WAY easier to do blackhat SEO on than Google is.

It's still not pointless though...

Just because you don't know anyone that uses Bing, the figures show that there are plenty of people that do. I not only know plenty of people that use Bing, I know a lot of others that hate Google and won't ever use their products.

If I'd build a site - I'd build 1 to rank in Google and 1 to rank in Bing and Yahoo :P

I do agree that Bing (and Yahoo, since it's powered by Bing), makes up for less that 7% of UK search volume, but worldwide, they account for more than 20%.
It takes a different approach to SEO if you want to optimize for Bing, but I'd say that in the future Bing might surprise us, so best to not ignore it totally.

I wouldn't write Bing off totally. In some sectors you can get some crazy conversion rates via Bing, although you might have to cast the net a bit wider in order to scale it.
