Best Keyword Research Tools

A few years ago there were a few free and paid "industry standard" keyword research tools available. Recently I have found myself mostly just using Google's free tool. What does everyone else use (free or paid)?

I use G Adwords tool quite a bit because it's quick and easy. Then a paid month with SEMRush & Searchmetrics every now and then.

Google Adwords is great, this let's you type in keywords and see how often they are searched for locally and gobally every month.

Google Analytics is another really useful tool as it lets you see the amount of traffic coming to your site and see where people drop off your site. This helps you to think of ways in which you can improve your website.

I have been using Market Samurai for keyword researching as well as searching for competitors too.

By the way, Market Samurai is paid. But it is really worth it.

I believe that they use the Google data to provide the searches - it's just the way it uses it. Instead of searching by a keyword (which you can do) you can also just whack a site in and see the phrases it ranks for. I've found some quite nice phrases this way.

G adwords seems to be the best tool around in my opinion. I believe market samurai uses that data also? I'm sure it used to at least

Market Samurai does use google data. You can use the various free tools from google to get the same results. MS is more of a timesaver for keyword research and it also has a few other useful timesaving features.

I think the main problem is that Google has access to the most valuable search data so any other systems is going to be really challenged.
