Hi

I am running Sage Instant Account 2011 V 17 and sent a copy of my back up to my Accountant, she then sent a copy back after running Year End. I tried to reload her copy of the back up and it takes me to a Manager Login screen I get past that then it says it's a newer version check for updates YES/NO doesn't matter what I click on it throws me out! So I now can't load the back up she sent. I've spoken to her but she says she never had problems before, she is running Sage 50 V 18. How can I view my company again? Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Sage data is not backwards compatible so, if she is using v18 then there is no way to get the data back in to v17...

To get back in to Sage, you'd need to do the following:

1. Go the folder c:\programdata\sage\accounts\2011\demodata
2. Right click on the ACCDATA folder and Copy
3. Go to the folder c:\programdata\sage\accounts\2011\company.000
4. Right click and Paste the ACCDATA folder and overwrite existing files
5. You'll now be able to get back in to Sage and restore the last backup that you took of your data

If you are using Windows XP, replace c:\programdata with c:\documents and settings\all users\application data

Your accountant will need to give you a list of whatever entries she made and you will have to enter them manually.

Hi

Thanks for your reply, much appreciated. I have done what you said, but when I try to open Sage, I get, the open company data screen, then the log on screen I get past that it comes up with a box saying the last back up was in version 18 and you were using 17 I click ok, it then says you have recurring entries due? do you want to post them yes or no? what do I click?

Hi, did that and it takes me back to the screen that says you are trying to use a newer version back up do you want to check for updates, yes/no then I get thrown out again... any ideas now? apart from screaming and pulling more hair out! Thanks.

Hi

I just did a re-boot... (before I booted the PC out the window), and all is well now.

As for getting my sage updated to match the accountants, hmmm not sure that they will do the work again on my copy, or I have the know how to do what they have done (hence that's why you pay an accountant?) I guess I'll have to purchase an up to date copy!

Just wanted to say thank you so much for your advice, time and help, very much appreciated :)
