Are Linkedin Blog Posts Indexed On Google?

Hi All,

I have just started blogging using Linkedin's new Pulse network. I am wondering if Google indexes their posts for two reasons:

1. Would copying and pasting a whole blog post from our website be seen as duplicate content?

2. Blogging takes a lot of time and energy and i'm wondering if it's more worthwhile concentrating on my own blog then sharing that within Linkedin and bypassing Pulse?

Thanks in advance!

Hey Ryan - if Google can index it, then you can bet it classes as duplicate content! I just did a quick search for a LinkedIn post I know is on Pulse and it showed up, so avoid re-publishing existing content if you can.

If you're doing any form of blogging, you should definitely focus on creating content on your own platform. I use LinkedIn Pulse as a distribution channel, rather than a platform for fresh content.

What I do is create incredibly valuable and long-form content on my own blog. Then, I create a "summary" post based on that piece of content that adds value in its own right. It gives bite-sized information as opposed to going too in-depth, as that's what the original content is for.

I'll then include a link to the original post at the bottom of the post. This way I'm creating unique content with minimal effort, my connections and other LinkedIn users are happy and I'm not pissing Google off in the process. It's win-win :).

YES!

Question for you: why are you blogging? What do you hope it will achieve? If it's just for SEO then it's not worth the effort. If it's to attract new business and it's not doing that then just stop blogging.

Would search engines really see a once duplicated article in a negative way "duplicate content" especially as the duplication/republished is within a business network?

Copy paste content is obviously not recommended. Use linkedin as one of your medium to reach your targeted audience and actively interact with the members that are related to your site.

Yes pulse gets indexed. Copy and past the below in google search

site:https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/

But I would not use linkedin as the main blog. Possibly use it as a summary of your website blog or just post the beginning exerpt and link to your main blog if you want to get readers onto your blog.

I don't think duplicate content is a problem - it would just get ignored by google if it's the same exact content.
