Anyone Using A Fulfilment Warehouse? (Not Amazon)

If you are able to, could you please let me know how you are charged for the warehouse receiving and booking in your goods?

Example delivery:

6 identical boxes
50 units per box
All the same SKU

How much would you be charged for that and how is it calculated?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Jamie.
It is one of those how long is the piece of string questions.
It basically depends on the structure of your agreement with your fulfilment provider.
Some providers will charge a £1.50 - £2.50 for every receipt that comes in and then charge storage.
Others will not charge to receive using the principle that they then will ship it or store it, either way they make their money on it.
Maybe they are charging you a really good rate to pick/pack and want to keep the different costs separate.
Would need to know a bit more about the other charges to know if you are getting a good deal.

I run a fulfilment house and am happy to explain how we would charge you for this.

It would depend on frequency of the deliveries and the volume of orders that we are processing for you per month, but as an average we would charge the following

6 identical boxes - Goods In (Receiving) per box delivered is £1.50
50 units per box - Basic check for qty per box is included in this
All the same SKU - Per SKU for booking in and locating to stock is £0.95

So in this scenario, 6 boxes and 1 SKU the cost would be £9.95

The fulfilment company we use doesn't charge a separate amount for booking in, so we just get a weekly storage fee and a pick/pack fee.

Hi,

As the above comments have touched upon this really is dependant on you as a customer and what your overall requirements are.

If the intention is to compare fulfilment companies then this is such an open ended question. Some will not charge incoming fees but will then make it up on storage/order fees or something like a managment fee and so it is impossible to compare.Others may have minimum order/through put fees making it even harder to look at.

Warehouses have finite space and will have costs of sales and overheads, therefore they will need to ensure that these are covered. Therefore if you had 100 pallet spaces and 1 order a month you may receive very differnet prices than if you had 1 pallet space and 100 orders per month.

@JamieM the best way to optimize logistic is starting to decide what location is more appropiate for you, because delivery will be cheaper in the area where most frequently you need to ship your orders.
So first you must think is where you want to find a warehouse, checking your most frequent customer location.
