Anyone ever used Volusion?

I imagine i isn't great for large online retailers with 1000s of SKUs. But what about somebody who retails between 50 & 500?

i personally have never used it, i tend to stick with magento or big commerce depending on purpose of site

But i have heard some good things from people who have used it. I would put it in the same class as Big Commerce.

With ecommerce solutions one of the biggest factors for me is its community. The more people who use it, the more plugins / documentation and help files there tend to be

I've worked with it. Not a 'bad' off the shelf solution. I wouldn't like it as a long term solution if you're looking to expand, but it works fine for small businesses who are just starting out.

That is what I am looking for, I don't have much budget so I have to get something up and live to make some money so I can get an all singing all dancing magento website up there.

Is it easy to update? change content? offers? cross selling? How do you change the home page content?

Yea, it's a good starting point.

Content is set up as articles, so you can up date the text add images orwatever you need to do.

Offers: The system has discounts/coupons, deal of the day offers. You can have a Facebook store too unless you have child products. So if you sell tshirts which have different sizes, you can't use FB store. you can set up a rewards program so every £1/£10/£100 earns points towards money off future purchases.

Homepage content you can upload via FTP new front page images or edit the HTML for that particular section (not the whole page) so you can add extra images or text etc.

Cross selling: You can add related products, but there isn't a 'people who buy this often buy this'

I tried it out once but didn't find it that user friendly for a non techy. I use BigCommerce now as it does exactly what it says on the tin. Easy to use and modify and a decent monthly fee.

from personal experience i would stay well clear of these guys, used them for a little while and had an utter nightmare with mis-configuration of my site, it being totally offline and an utter lack of support!!

I have heard about Volusion before but didn't really gave it much attention. I prefer to stick with BigCommerceon my sites.

Have you looked at OpenCart? It performs very well for me.

The US-based hosted providers do tend to get a lot of mentions on this forum, but there are plenty of UK-based solutions which will perform the same or better - with UK support, UK-based hosting and tailored for our market.

Hi,

We use them just now, support is all 'from america', so not great for trying to configure UK shipping or currency options.

Admin side can be a bit confusing, theres nothing really wrong with it, but we are now moving over to Shopify, which we find ticks the boxes that Volusion doesn't.

If found the sipping and currency pretty easy to change. My biggest issue was getting the site home page right with as little hassle as possible. BigCommerce was pretty easy for that.

Tried using Bluepark but found the pricing a bit on the high side. I tried Shopify but can't remember what it was that put me off!

Also tried EKM but its awful to use.

Having the site hosted in the states is no big deal and has no adverse effects.
