Hi All,

Sorry for all the questions! I just had another query.

If I registered a LTD company and it was called ABC Ltd, and we had a divsion within the company called XYZ Recruitment (which would be trademarked). Does this prevent anyone from using the name XYZ Recruitment Ltd?

Also, does anyone know where I go about patenting an idea and how I go about making something a trademark?

Thanks Again

Many thanks for this - I will have a look now.

Kind Regards

Richard

In case you haven't been able to get hold of Crossguard, hope the following is of use.

When you apply for a trademark you have to select categories of goods/services to apply it to. Trademarking could prevent someone using the mark in relation to goods/services in the categories for which you hold the trademark. However, it would not stop them from registering and using it as a company name.

You can find specialist lawyers who deal with patents and with trademarks. Here's a link to my website which will give you an overview of patents and trademarks, with liks to the relevant authorities sites if you need more guidance
