Isn't Kodi just a piece of software which is usually used for streaming content illegally? How can they license content properly without charging anyone for it, or even charging £2.00/month? I've not used it before but have come across people using the pre-loaded Amazon Fire TV Stick version to access illegal content, Wikipedia covers the issue too.
Pretty much like the BBC does now really.
Pretty much as virgin and sky does now... the create their own channels and become a media source... that could be reckoned with.
When we had bog standard TV in this country we had BBC and ITV, then when channel 4 came in everyone thought it was great, then the likes of SKY came about and everyone was in awe... now we've got a whole boat load of different providers, all providing similar content... and all charging different prices to the public to use their services...
The likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime are bringing in the more surreal provider to be the most preferred watched, i.e. there are folk out there that don't watch any "day-time" TV anymore, they watch pre-recorded programmes, or some just watch films, it's a completely different lifestyle that people have to 20-30 years ago.
I use my android box to watch Netflix, Amazon Prime, NowTV, Youtube channels and yes I did use to have KODI on my box, and yes I did watch what could be deemed as illegal content, i.e. the only real things I've watched on my box are boxsets... which I can also get from Netflix etc. etc. anyway!
What I'm saying is that, if KODI re-invented or re-built their product to be an already built product which allows access to all of the above AND streaming channels... (which, let's get it right... Virgin, Netflix etc. etc are providing streaming channels to us anyway....) then surely there would be more revenue to bring in "LEGALLY" if done properly.
Example:
In Australia, there is a company providing the android boxes at $300 - $400 dollars each, and they provide a service where they update your box for a set price every month... like a TV provider does...
