advertising in local newspapers

I'm looking to advertise in local newspapers my probate company but want to know do I approach the newspapers individually or is there a central place i can go to that can send my advert out to all or some of the local newspapers. I'm looking at warwickshire, oxfordshire and northamptonshire mainly.

If you're sure that local papers are a good way of engaging your target audience.

You probably want to contact newspaper publishers in your area. Could be something like Northliffe or Newsquest, to see which papers they might have (free and paid for in your area).

You can then negotiate a discounted rate to have ads in more than one publication and online space.

Have a look at circulation and target audience profile to see if it fits with the type of customer you want to target.

Use the book rate as a guide and negotiate down from there.

Make sure you get an 'early right' page and design an ad to appeal to the sort of person you are targetting for your services.

Why are people paying - the press is free, we never paid a penny for our coverage. Do this right, and you can get thousands in coverage for free.

But what people get wrong is they think newspaper coverage means sales - it doesn't work like that. But it does give great credibility, and can do wonders for exposure - but you gotta have that amazing or cool idea, which many just dont have.

If I am not mistaken the press coverage is free but other than that like advertising in the magazine or newspaper will cost you bigger. You are promoting your business so expect that the bigger space you will get for the advertisement the higher the rate.

You are probably better off doing joint ventures with private hospitals, residential homes and contacting the main areas where these OAPs hangout. Age concern, coffee houses this will probably yeild a better return of investment than posting in the newspaper. One question though ? do you have a professional copywriter on board to create your advertising ?
