Accountants' forum

What I think Steve was saying (He hasn't confirmed my PM yet), is that we can create a private 'room' on accountingweb called UKBF accountants where the accountants on UKBF can discuss all things accounting wise .....................which many UKBF members wouldn't be overly interested in:)

Most of us are tre dumb. Many of us don't even know whether we're practicing or practising.

I knows, I does!

I always used to refer the question of practising and practicing, or licensed or licensed by referring to the difference between advise and advice. Everybody knows that difference, or so I thought. These days, it's obvious that people don't.

I've been adviced to take good proffesional advise, but I'm worried that I'll loose my money. Bit of poetic license in their, but its not clear if the average poster knows it's apex from it's elbow. ;)

I blame Microsoft. Their retard spellcheck will alter practising to practicing when you're not looking. The Yanks have no place for an "s" in their verb.

I get stuck over "advisor" and "advser". CTAs are advisors; IFAs aren't certain.

The local comp, alongside its accreditaions for being Gordon Brown's seat of learning in Arts and Science, informs its visitors that "vehicles are parked at owners risk". Not an apostrophe in sight, so eat yer heart out Lynn Truss. For me the sign says "We have our Arts and Science badges, but our English department isn't quite up to it." Anyone wanna guess whether it ought to read "owner's" or "owners' "?

On the subject of spelling, there are currently 47 companies registered at Companies House with the word Intergrated spelt with the rogue extra R - three of which have continued, blissfully unaware I presume, for over 20 years.

Imagine the embarrassment when you realise that your company has been formed with a spelling mistake...
