Advice needed please!
My company has recently advised the need to reduce the number of staff in my location and there will be 30 redundancies, therefore a 30 day consultation period will begin imminently.
However, all 30 roles have recently been recruited for in another location and all roles identical to those being made redundant. At no point prior to this recruitment taking place were these roles offered to those now being made redundant and the company claims to have ‘not known’ that the situation would arise. As these roles are now filled, they cannot be offered to those who will now lose their jobs...
Is this a genuine redundancy situation?
