self assesment (how to learn)

Am currently studying IAB bookkeeping courses 1-3 through woodforde Tutorials.Just finished the course (after shelling out £450) and thought it was a bit pricey as i didn't really use the tutor. They've offered me a course for £250 to learn about self assesment tax and corporation tax but don't fancy spending that cash on a study text. Could anyone recommend me a book/text to learn about this? Thanks

It really depends on how far you want to go with tax.

You certainly cant hope to get any indepth tax knowledge from a few books.

If its just a few pointers HMRC's website has lots of useful booklets etc.

Have you considered pursuing tax studies? If so ATT is a great option - http://http://www.att.org.uk/

Tax books arent cheap

why not go on the free HMRC courses for a start and take it form there.

I would recommend AAT though if you are serious about extending your knowledge
