Promotional Pens, mugs, etc?

HI all,
Has anyone ever had any success with this kind of thing for marketing a trades style business? I'm thinking if it's a one a year type service (i.e. boiler servicing) it might be worthwhile to leave something behind, so long as it's going to stay in the customers house for a year.

I'm thinking about calenders and so far found the business gift company, anyone had any experience with buying this kind of thing? Or would I be better off with a local printer?

I'm thinking if the firms I'm helping promote can draw a big red circle a year from the day they perform the annual service there's a good chance they'll get the job next year. Thoughts?

as a mobile DJ, i hav been selling USB sticks wit the playlist from the night, it works really well. i hav seen a increase in work since i started it 9 months ago. as for your boilers etc, i cant see why it wouldn't work, we all need the job done and as long as you do a good job why not reuse your services?

The last guy I had that fixed my boiler left a sticker on the boiler, cheeky I know, but he was the first person I called when I went again, it was just a small discreet one with his number etc, but it worked.

Edit, another thought would be to put the note about the next service due date, the garage puts it in our car (for MOT), we leave it in to remind us and then we take it back there for ease really.

bronzey: great idea mate. Get a fee for the gig, paid for the USB sticks so people can remember the night, then paid again when they book you because they link the music. That is pretty sharp

infact its going more than just music soon as a good friend of mine has just left collage after doing photogarthly and we are now looking at adding pictures from the night for a extra £65-£80. so a gig that would have got me about £150 has now nearly doubled.

the stickers are a great idea, its right where i would look first. i hav a keyring from the guy that did my boilder and its attached to one of the pipes just under it so its always there for me to see. i just went to check and i have never noticed it before lol that maybe be down to the fact that i havn't been here long so i havn't needed to worry about it yet! lol

How about a personalised stick-on/magnetic hook (seen 'em somewhere, can't think where ATM)and hang a pack of those first alert Carbon monoxide indectors on it, two in a pack that last 6 months each. A saftey check device and advertise your business , renew the pack free (cost about £5 retail) with each service!

Hi BoilerBoy don't know if you have seen these http://www.reginproducts.co.uk/gasdetection/REGC01. I don't know the cost, but have been meaning to find out for a few weeks now. I think they have a good promotion potential for people in our line of work.

Thanks Mark - never seen those before, looks perfect for the task in most respects. Looking at the wording on it though ("This card expires...") I'd be worried about liability issues, bt that's probably my solicitor sister making me too cautious! Will add that one to my list though, cheers!
