AVON home shopping. For men?

Hi,

Does anyone know if there is an equivalent type of business for men?

My Daughter runs a small Avon round and she can make quite good money at it, so it got me thinking is there something similar for men?

Maybe toiletries, gadgets, tools ???

Any info/ideas?

I'm not sure of the answer but that would be a great idea, maybe set the business up yourself.

I think it would be a little expensive for me to set up alone.

You would need catalogue's about once a fortnight for a start, I could probably source the items for the catalogue over a period of time, and repro/design the layout etc but print costs would be stupid.

I just wondered if there was anything out there already that I could fill a little time with when work is quite.

I'd avoid Kleeneze, few quid commission on each but hardly sell anything, not very good stuff. Never heard of amway.co.uk so maybe give them a try.

Just a thought, and I do think this idea has potential...

Maybe you could produce a 'catalogue' on CD initially so that you can reduce the costs.

It may be stereotypical but as men quite often tend to be 'computer geeks' (though I'm happily a female computer geek!) maybe they would appreciate a CD catalogue in any case.

Err...seriously, certainly not for me, but you could be on to something there. I will happily wash up, cook, do my share of the household chores, but nance around with make up and perfume? No fox mongering way!

Not all men are equal,and today some are questionable...but I think the idea has balls even if the customer base is unsure if they do!

I wasn't planning on "nancing around with make-up" how Avon works is you drop of catalogue's door to door, wait a few days, go get your catalogues back, hopefully an order has been placed, I order from whoever, when it arrives to me I deliver it to the client.

AND, I'm talking manly things like "hi karate aftershave", a bull worker or a "Mamouth slaying kit" etc.

Funny this.....I looked at this around 8 months ago and actually have a business plan. We were going to base it around the party business model and it looked a very sound model to adopt.
Its still something I would do....when I had the time!

You need to research a bit more, I'm not into Kleeneze, but it is possibly the most successful MLM model, many agents make a very good living, even a local girl I know who only drops a few catalogues without any interest in recruiting makes an average of £15-20/hr.

As for the products, how many companies offer a full money back no questions asked even if you have used the item but are unhappy??

You could do a lot worse than follow their business model and maybe you will be listed on the stock exchange one day as well

doesnt the body shop have a nice range for blokes too?
otherwise, surely a website with email promotions would be enough to get through to the male market? as someone already mentioned, men seem happy to spend hours on the old pc so it seems silly to invest in specific catalogues when they may not even be looked at. maybe you could advertise your products on a page in a male magazine ultimately, or local newspaper? so many options and I think this idea does have potential so go go go!
hey ultimately you could have "body shop" style parties with a rep who goes round to a blokes beer party, could be either v dangerous for the poor rep or profitable for you!

I don't sell anything at all at the moment, and I don't have any of my own products other than a printing service.

The ideas is to create a catalogue aimed mainly at men, to sell anything that I feel men would be interested in buying example, gadgets, aftershave, tools novelty time waisting things that keep us amused for hours novelty tee shirts etc.

I would deliver the catalogue door to door in my local area, they (hopefully) would look at the catalogue, place an order, I then order the items from whoever is selling them at a pre-arranged discounted price or maybe a commission, when it arrives at my address, I deliver it to the customer, receive payment etc. etc. Just like Avon really.

I just wanted to get peoples opinions on if it could work or if it was already working somewhere else.

I don't know anyone that is doing it, but what I do know is that men hate shopping! I think its a really good idea, you just need to work out your target buyer then work out the products; just asked the husband, he said afteshave, shaving stuff (that would be good packaged) - branded sports kits...

He would be dubious about the gadgets apparently! though I doubt that to be true - computer equipment, yes he always buys that and doesn't use it......presents for me, probably, Men love an easy route to that sort of thing.

As for testing, you would probably some initial investment and start small; maybe you wouldn't need the products initially, just a website and then order them in lieu of orders?

Oh, the other thing he said (not that he is god) is that the stuff would have to be a well known respected brand.
