Advice on filing accounts for the first time?

I run a LTD company (graphic design), it's just me alone but I work with freelancers and have plans to expand.

I'm filing as a micro-entity because I meet all the criteria, and my figures are fairly straightforward but I'm not totally sure on the specifics of the process. Not currently in a position to pay for an account, plus I only need some advice, not someone to file it for me.

I have a £2,300 laptop that is my only real fixed asset. It also asks for my total current assets, so what exactly do I include here?

Current assets = cash, bank, stock, debtors, work in progress.

What software do you keep your accounts on?

I use Excel because there are no business costs or overheads (work from home as a graphic designer) and each project is one simple fee, there's no complicated itemised bills or anything just a single figure (split into deposit and final payment).

You will probably find it much easier to have a basic profit and loss account and balance sheet to work from. If you really don't want to pay for any software VT cashbook is free and will enable you to produce a profit and loss account and balance sheet.
