Have an idea but not the time to develop it

Hi All

I've got a range of ideas to take existing products on the markets from big companies and offer some addons which I think some would definitely go for.

The thing is, with my current job, I do not have the time to take this any further, i'm maxed out, which has led me to the idea of telling these companies the ideas, to hopefully get something back out from them, but:

1) Would that ever happen? My worry is, I would need to tell them the idea to see if they were interested, and if they were, they could still say No, and steal the idea, as they are big companies with a lot of money behind them.

Any suggestions?

If its an idea you think the big companies can easily develop themselves, there may be no point in offering it to them. Perhaps smaller companies might be a better idea.

I doubt they would literally steal the idea. But if you concerned why not get them to sign a confidentiality agreement?

Take a look at the book "One Simple Idea" by Stephen Key. It a how to manual from an inventor who has basically made his career selling ideas like you are talking about to major companies. Usually enhancements to existing products.

if i'm honest no, as of late, up @ 5-6, work for 7 or before, work until 5-6, home, look after the kids then tea and bed (and to be fair, with my work I cannot reduce it at the moment and aren't willing to sacrifice family time if you get me, so v.little time if im honest).

I'm not really sure it would be worth it with smaller companies but hadn't thought about that.

I'm in a similar ish position. I have an idea but am maxed out too, to barely give it any thought.

Maybe you can find a reliable partner among your friend or the people whom you trust. You can develop your idea together and share the profit.
