Help migrating from prestashop to opencart

Hello,

Just needed some help and advice really,

We currently have our site using prestashop, and we want to change to Opencart how do we do this and keep the products?

Also if we change does this mess up all our links we have on google and separate sites? Also would it mess up our google ranking?

Hello Daniel
Prestashop and OpenCart have radically different database structures. There are no ready OpenCart extensions either to migrate database from Prestashop to OpenCart.
It has to be done manually. I suggest you hire a developer
There won't be any effect on SEO, but you need to have all meta tags in new OpenCart site (including SEO friendly URL etc) matching with original prestashop site

As both are open source platform and have the feature like product import/export you can do that easily but its great if you hire developer for that as both have different database structure.

Now in SEO its will get effect if the URL currently have need to generate same in Open cart you need to either take care while pages and category creation or make a the url rewriting to have the old style URL that is allready crawl by google.

Defiantly meta tag and description you need to make same as old one.

I'm not to bothered about changing products as such as I can do that manually instead of transferring as then can set up new site different

It's just the on site SEO we have done as in on the product page on prestashop. I know it's different for opencart and abit confused on how to do this really

Migration from one shopping cart to another one is a complicated procedure. But you can try this online service. I used it and was impressed with the quality of migration. As I know it suppports a lot of different shopping carts. Prestashop and Opencart are among them.
