Hi,
I've posted before asking about manufacturers and I had found 1 in China but then I had a sample sent to me and the quality wasn't very good, so I'm now trying to find a manufacturer in the U.K that makes ladies plus size clothing to clients specifications.

I'm currently ringing round but can't find anyone.

Can anyone help me out please?

I had the same problem before as I needed whole sale garments but of great quality. I also tried getting one from China and did not get that great result at first. Though I think that there are those who would make exceptional garments.

I settled for the one from Bangladesh. Did not have much trouble getting the items shipped as their system was not that tight. Though They say that there are times when they rob you off with excessive charges.

I guess there are thousands of manufacturer in each province, but there will be around only 1% factory can provide good quality. as I knows, there are a lot of International brand has there OEM service provider on China. but searching is always a hard work, not only for you guys from U.K, but also for the peopel live in China.

Searching and comparing is alway diffcult, not only for you guys from U.K, but also for the people that live in China. As I knows, there are lots of International Fashion Brand co-operate with Chinese OEM service provider. it's hard to find the right one, but keep moving you will finally find it.

If someone need clothing producer please contact me. I have friend ho owns clothing manufactory and he has extensive international experience gained by working with its business partners from abroad. Only to remember, in my country still there are people who works only for few euros a day. That makes our products very competitive. Maybe this will be very profitable, about the same as if you ordered from China (do not forget the quality. Long experience confirms this - if the products were with low quality, manufactory would not exist today).

For your consideration China has six major textile and apparel production areas: Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Guangdong, Fujian and Hebei (each one has its own strengths and weaknesses, depending on what you want to produce). And the same goes for every country.

You need to consider too that not all manufacturers are suitable for all types of fabrics or design styles. And also your specific design needs, brand objectives, budget, your production volume, could require a specific factory based in a specific country. I'd suggest you to check the best practices when liasing with manufacturers so you can follow a structured approach and better outsource. There's an institutional body in the UK (NESTA) that produced a good document on the subject (Alliance Fashion and Manufacturing Toolkit) which you can download for free in their website.

It's not a surprise that loads of graduate fashion designers in this country have never been to a factory to check how manufacturing works or how to select or deal with them (they are often seen as outsiders when they should be seen as one of the most important key players on designer's networks!). I think this poor manufacture experience/knowledge could potentialy affect not only their businesses but also of their manufacturers. Effectively managing liaisons with manufacturers and knowing how to deal and engage with them is key to brand success.

Lol I keep repeating myself but anyone looking for UK clothing manufacturers should use the High-end Supply Chain Database* from the Fashion Alliance. The Alliance comprises the British Fashion Council, Centre for Fashion Enterprise, London Manufacturing Advisory Service, Skillset and UK Fashion & Textile Association.

Google for it as I can't post the direct link yet. Or access it directly from either the Fashion Alliance or the UK Fashion & Textile Association websites.

Through the High-end Supply Chain Database, designers can seek out UK based factories, fabric suppliers, trimmings merchants and service suppliers. Using the simple search tools, factories and suppliers can be identified regionally and by specialisation.

Hi,
If you visit on Google than you may find lots of manufacturers over there that are dealing with the same clothing field. UK is undoubtedly a large market in this sense because a large number of manufacturers is available and they are dealing with cheap prices specially with their wholesale customers. I would like to recommend you to visit 'wholesalepages.co.uk" and "businesssupplies.com'. They are good manufacturers in UK and dealing with cheap wholesale prices. it will be really beneficial for you.

Having clothes made in UK would cost a lot more than having them made in china, of course the currency difference would be the main factor.

Being here on the ground in China, I have found out that if I go to the wholesale markets and speak directly to the manufactures then I can get the price lower.
