How Irish travellers drive?

I have seen these programmes on TV regarding their weddings and lifestyle. Most of them own cars/vans. If they live in the middle of field in caravan, they have no address. If they buy a car, what address they put on V5 form and send to DVLA? If they have no address, they have no bank account, so they don`t have car insurane. How do they do it ? What address they have on driving licence?

I have no idea. Maybe the all chip together and rent a flat, then they all use that address for stuff.

They get away with an awful lot that people who are outside of their community could never. No parking charges, no nothing.

It is a disgrace really. We have had dealings with them and they pay a local kid a fiver to break in places and then they get to stay there and then the landowner has to spend a fortune with courts to get them moved on and they know it. No council tax, nothing.

The cashless society when it comes will sort them out.

I was wondering when watching this - its too hard to get away with no insurence, You've only got to drive passed the wrong camera and its game over.

I'm thinking there must be someone specialist out there who helps them out - like that dress maker they all use. would be very interested to find out.

False number plates, plates that are registered to the same make, model and colour of car as yours. That way some other poor sod gets your parking and speeding tickets and you don't need to worry about trivial annoyances like insurance and driving licences. Just gotta be quick on your toes if you do get pulled over.

But they even have business and vans. What address they provide to tax office? I find it hard to understand, how they live.

Well, could it be something to do with Common Law?

1) Common law defines right to travel freely by any means.
2) When travelling in your personal conveyance of the day there is
no requirement for a license, insurance, road tax or MOT as it is
not covered by any statute such as the road traffic act.

Driving actually means paid work, getting paid for driving while traveling means going from A to B - home to supermarket etc.

Do you think they understand the rules of Common Law enough?

I thought you had to argue Common Law in a court anyway? e.g. the Police arrest you first then you have to do a little show where you prove you understand more about Common Law than they do, they get all confused, they let you off.

I don't know how they do it but they seem to get away with a lot for whatever reason.

The traveller I saw recently was driving a shopping trolley across a green traffic light while transporting baby and toddler and full load of shopping. Not sure what type of licence is required for this...

I am guessing they have fake info or get the one who have their own business to help them out, to be honest they are like illegal immigrants except they carry and irish passport,
