Kids will be devastated. Been down to Camber Sands quite a few times and the kids loved it, there was lots of room for improvement but cost wise we couldn't complain as with 4 kids not your typical family size.

Sad...and actually quite shocked...Not a company I thought would go under. I genuinely hope they manage to turn it around with the new management etc.

Still, who needs Pontins when we have Butlins.

perhaps the locations of the parks were not ideal. Localish to us - Brean Sands. Who in their right mind would want to spend 2 weeks at a holiday park there. A mecca for famillies from the midlands back in the 60's when travel was expensive but in 2010???

I can see why, the parks are a disgrace and the rooms are dirty and cold, and everything is over priced. The arcade is all ticket wins so that's puts off the 12-16 age group

They have made no investment in the parks, but say they have

If you go to Butlins the difference is 100%, Butlins every time for me but Butlins is a little more expensive

Can't say I'm that surprised about this! Pontins are REALLY expensive! You can have a 2 week holiday in Spain for the price they charge for some of their breaks!

Saying that, it's not just Pontins! Most holiday parks are very over priced.

I was quite surprised to learn that they only have 5 parks but the head of Butlins was on radio earlier saying they are considering making an offer for at least 3 of them! Although the BBc are saying that they will be operating as normal so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

They will be bought out by someone - it's still a big brand regardless of anything else.

The issue seems to be the withdrawal of lending from the bank. The business appears to be profitable. I'm sure there are other businesses that have been in this situation in the last couple of years! The company was only bought in 2008 for around £50million.

I'm sure they'll be bought out of administration. The Administrators are so sure of this they are continuing to take bookings.

Those statistics are deeply floored.

Whilst it's true that following the recession more brits started to holiday at home, the actual spend of domestic holiday makers reduced. No doubt people were cheesed off that they saved a few hundred quid on flights to spain, only to realise most holiday activites cost more at home resorts.

Not sure if that would directly affect pontins (it's mostly inclusive cost isn't it??) but there have certainly been enough stories in the media about spain being cheaper than an equicilant trip to cornwall, brighton etc.

With KPMG as administrators the chances of this are very slim.IMHO
