I don't really know what to say to this! Surely councils need to drill home that it's the dog owners who need to take responsibility, and it's not for them to follow them round with a multicoloured van? Craziness.

The website sets out to trivalise the problem (with that daft song) this is a serious issue, and owners should be responsible.

I am beginning to wonder how long before the only responsibility for being a dog owner will be choosing its name!

To be fair they also deal with Llama and gerbil poo too - and we all know what a terrible problem that can be :)

It would have to be good money wouldn't it. Are people really that lazy, paying someone to come round there house to do it for them?

I live out in the country and there are no pavements here, so dog poop doesn't really bother me - BUT HORSE POO!!!! FFS!! the country park across the road from me is ised lots by gits with horses and i've seen whole paths blocked by a mountain of horse manure.

Yet these stuck up gits think they have a right to trot around letting their ponies crap everywhere.

One even demanded I get my dog on a lead because their horse panicked at the sight of a dog. (no, the dog has no interest in the horse, was nowhere near the horse, wasn't even looking at the horse and was at least 50 yards away)

I also regularly attend football games and the police are on horseback to control the large crowds - do they have to scoop their poop? it's like wading through a sea of ****e coming out of the ground - you have 20-30 thsand people coming out simultaneously, and the crowd is flowing towards the exits and you have to negotiate this mountain of turds. I've seen it cause bottle necks and crushes where people try to walk around it - but of course people coming behind them don't see it and push them into it.

I'd have anyone that had a horse that didn't have a poop catching bag attached to it's arse shot!

there is actually quite a difference between dog poo and horse poo. Dog is basically meat, horse is basically grass.

Horse poo is nowhere near as bad as dog. Imagine a dog poo the size of a horse poo - i'd run a mile away from it!

Likewise, and nobody bothers cleaning it up. You have to wait until the rain washes it away.

you wouldn't want to stand in either and dog poo isn't the size of a horse poo and there is no danger of a dog poop blocking an entire country path off.

Another gripe - dog owners who DO "scoop the poop"

why go to the trouble of putting it in a wee bag, tying the bag up and then hang it off a tree - where the bag (and the poop) will remain forever! At least if you didn't pick it up and carefully preserve it in a plastic bag it would get washed away and return something to the soil

I'm sick of finding these wee parcels all over the place.

"poop packer hangers" would be next on my shooting list!

I wonder what the difference is between a poover and a normal vacuum cleaner? LOL

Maybe a 'poover' will be a worthwhile investment...:)

Don't get me started on dog eggs!!! I coach the U9's team at the local rugby club. The pitches are in a residential area - the majority of dog owners are responsible but there is a minority who are not.

They open the car (or house) door and let the dog "excercise" itself. On a Sunday morning ( and before Saturday games) we always have to do a turn patrol. Last season one of the U15's got some in his face! To make it worse what's the first thing you do in such a case - you remove your gumshield and get it in your mouth!!!

There are the usual signs about dog wardens and fines but I don't think anyone has ever been fined in our town. I'm amazed the council have not looked to this possible revenue stream as it's so easy to monitor. Infact I'd happily police the rugby pitches and footpaths with a zoom lense on my camera. Only charge 20% of fines too!!!
