Hello, I have recently established a leaflet distribution company, based In Epsom Surrey. My initial response has been well received, although local businesses have been a little apprehensive with regard to the tricks of trade being widely used and reported. Most people who happen to be outside when I deliver are happy to receive them, but a large amount are destined for their dustbins, I try to advise customers to have a leaflet designed that is to the point, (unlike this thread) and offer some information that may influence the customer to keep the leaflet longer. For example a Carpet cleaner could offer some useful cleaning tips for spills etc, or a perhaps a pizza restaurant could include a favourite recipe, But my top tip is to have your company logo on a fridge magnet and have it stuck to the top left hand corner of your leaflet, That way I can also charge you more to deliver:) lol.
I hope this can be of some help to anyone considering a leaflet campaign.

Paul, I also like the callcards on the magnets. Honestly, I dump most leaflets without even reading them properly. But then the ones I get the most are from restaurants. I cook everyday(yea, one of the dying breed), I don't want those leaflets!!
If someone offering to go the supermarket and get the stuff I forgot to buy was to drop me a flyer, I would surely keep those!!!

Hi Trinibabe,
I myself receive many leaflets a week at home. But every now & then one comes along I keep. Many businesses that we do leaflet campaigns for expect immediate results, but unless you need your carpet cleaned at the precise moment, or you want to buy one pizza and get the second free they are binned. I would like companies to use a product rather than leaflets, which might benefit the householder, after all we are pushing unwanted material into peoples homes, so we really should give them something that they might be able to use.I do have some suggestions but that's for another day and new thread.
Thanks Paul.

Hi Paul,

Fantastic idea about using magnets to extend the life of your flyers. It just so happens my business is all about magnets. I think together we could offer a pretty good service to customers. Call or email me to discuss.

Cheers,

Hi Paul

Do you provide a leaflet hand-out service in the street?

I am thinking about getting someone to hand leaflets out to parents in the street near the Ashley Centre. I sell Child-safe Toy Boxes online. tidytots.co.uk

If you could help, could I have a price for handing out leaflets specifically targeted at people with children aged 1-6 ish. Also, the toy boxes are not cheap so the recipients should be selected appropriately. I'd rather hand out leaflets to 50 well chosen prospects rather than 500 to just anybody who takes one.

Obviously, you'd get repeat business and as much recommendation as you want if it works out!

I have plenty of good quality leaflets.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Reza

High street hand outs are the most effective method of ensuring your material gets in the hands and mind of your target audience. We can distribute in Epsom high street, near the ashley centre. I will send you further Information to the address on your web site.

Hi Paul,

We've just launched a leaflet delivery company over in the Weybridge/Shepperton/Woking area so your comments too are useful to us! We have also had a good response so far. We limit the number of flyers we do per drop (unlike the Post Office now) and have now have a set of guidelines for all our delivery people to follow (following a barking dog incident). Good luck - if ever any of our customers need a drop in Epsom I will get them to contact you!

Hi Vicci
Thanks, I am glad to give some input. I have sent you a email requesting your company information & terms, With regard to Minimums etc. Cats & dogs can be a problem, especially as I stipulate to my delivery people to ensure that the advertising material is pushed all the way through the letterbox,so that it does not hang for all the undesirables to see the occupant is out. I have personally had a cat claw my finger in the past,so always tell distributors to carry plasters.
Good luck for the future.

I think the guy in Epsom disappeared a long time ago! His 2 leafleting sites have been dead for several years! (There are only a very small number of leafleting firms, such as ours, that have been in existence for a number of years, as most of them do not know what they are doing and go under.)
We don't cover Epsom, as we cover the following:

Brighton, Bookham, Burgess Hill, Crawley, Dorking, East Grinstead,
Fetcham, Guildford, Hassocks, Haywards Heath, Horley, Horsham, Hove,
Hurstpierpoint, Leatherhead, Patcham, Portslade, Preston, Redhill, Reigate,
Rottingdean, Shoreham

but a franchisee, Alex on 020 8778 1260 richmond (at) leaflets (dot) tv, might be able to do it, as he is very keen!
He normally covers these areas below, but can be flexible:

Brentford, Cheam, Chiswick, Hampton, Isleworth, Mortlake, Richmond,
Sheen, Sutton, Teddington, Twickenham and surrounding areas.

Incidentally, 400 leaflets is not enough. You would need to do several thousand in order to achieve any meaningful impact. I hope this helps.

We can deliver leaflets and similar small items, such as menus and brochures, but I am afraid that furniture and baby bedding would be a bit cumbersome and heavy for us!
Thanks.

Hi Guys,
I must first start with apologizing for not coming on this forum sooner to let you know that due to my success, I can not take on any more work. I have no need for a website, or to advertise as I have a large contract delivering Charity packs on a daily basis from Surrey,to Berkshire. The contract remains with a proviso that we deliver no other literature at all (Solus) As it's a large drop and very profitable and on a regular daily basis I am very happy to abide. We deliver, I say we as I have now employed staff, in excess 500.000 packs. I am happy to deliver alongside my staff, as it's a very healthy job, I am happy with the size of my operation and have no wish to expand further, as I can guarantee 100% percent on time delivery rate, with house counts, & routes which the company demands & expects.
My question to you Peter, Is why do you not include Epsom as one of your areas ?
You have listed your areas covered as Leatherhead, Cheam, & Sutton, But for example to get to Leatherhead via Sutton, one option is to go through Epsom. Also Cheam is only 2 miles away from Epsom. I know the list is probably not exhaustive, but I find it strange you choose not to include Epsom.

I am glad you are doing well.

That's a reasonable question! The answer is that I have to draw a line somewhere in terms of territorial expansion for my head office operation and leave other areas for my existing and future franchisees. If I was too busy with my own sphere of operation, I would not have enough time to support franchisees.

I hire local people to deliver the leaflets, as sending 'teams' a long way would be a disaster. I do NOT use teams. An individual in the team could dump leaflets and I would not be able to find out easily which of the people had done it to fire him. The travel would also cost in terms of time and petrol. I only use local leafleters who are personally accountable for the delivery.

A new office is opening to cover the following areas:

Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, Crowborough, Oxted, East Grinstead, Oxted, Forest Row, Horley, Lingfield, Uckfield.

Contact Dermot on 0800 567 7687

I hope this clarifies it!

Thanks Peter,

I use the royal mail postcode house count & sectors, I can target routes as accurately as from one end of a road to the other. Which would bring adjourning franchised areas to within a postcode to avoid the loss of say the 29,000 households in Epsom & Ewell. If you were worried about using a team because of countability you could, using a marker pen or a crayon, run the marker up the side of a 1k pack of leaflets, assigning a different colour for each delivery person with no harm or damage to the literature. That way if they were dumped & then subsequently found, you could then identify who the culprit was. Just an idea, anyway take care & good luck for the future. Paul

Thanks for the advice. The marker pen one is potentially useful, assuming the dozy leafleters don't mix up their individually marked batches of leaflets in the car and deliver each others! (Nothing would surprise me any longer!)

Hi & thank you so much for your kind words, I think I owe my success to the fact that I have not succumbed to the temptation of putting my feet up, and becoming complacent. I still enjoy my job immensely & often travel well outside my area to deliver alongside my team. We have a good laugh and everyone knows exactly what is expected of them. I have just got back this weekend from a large drop, and this is the reason for the delay in me responding to your reply in my post. I have sent a PM to you as requested, & I hope It meets with your satisfaction.
Kind Regards Paul.

Hello Paul,

Are you taking on jobs now? If so please give us a quote on 100k comp slips distribution. They are 1/3 of an A4 and weigh 1.66 kg per 1000. They can go anywhere as long as the area is middle and above income bracket.

Please pm.
Thanks

In response to the comment on 16th November, I was trying to inject some humour into supposedly factual postings that can get pretty tedious to read!;)

Any business will have its problems and only an imbecile would imagine it can all be perfect! The trick is minimising the risks and that is what I do.

I wish the other leafleting firm that posted here all the best and although they operate differently to us, I suppose only the end result matters.

Peter
